<div class="IPBDescription">search and destory, evac?</div> I have a question, will there be any maps made like this in Natural Selection well not in 2.0 but will it be considered later on? or is the NS team staying with the normal game play?
I doubt that maps that use different rules will be implemented. It doesn't really work as easily with NS as it would with other mods I think, what witht he unique resource system and tech tree a "search and destroy" map wouldn't really be NS any more.
some kind of timelimit or something would be cool...like who can reach the escape pod first...and the marines and aliens battle it out as usual...but each trying to get to the pod before the ship crashes or something <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::lerk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/lerk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='lerk.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo-->

These are ideas that have been mentioned (search in S&I), and Flayra has said that objective-based maps are something he'd like to look into if he has the time. They are not currently *planned* for any future release of NS, however. He is more concerned with balancing the core gameplay at this time.

Aliens start off with two hives, 2 or 3 res points and a decent amount of starting res (eg 45 each) so that fades aren't too far away. Marines start off with JP or even HA already researched, but only with light weapons (LMG & Shottie) as well as 2 or 3 res points.
Tech trees could function as normal from here, or even be tweaked a little for balance (scrap that idea if Flayra doesn't give the map his support).
There is a set goal to the map: Marines have to reach a certain point in the map, then defend that position and repair (weld) an escape pod or transport onboard their Battlecruiser so they can escape the alien infestation. Aliens have to prevent this escape and wipe out the marine scum and take the marines prized Battlecruiser as their own.
Maybe make it so there are several escape pods around the ship & the marines have the choice of trying to repair and defend any of them. All equally defendable, all equally vulnerable (I know this would be hard to pull off).
Once the marines have started repairing a certain escape pod, a timer is activated for that specific pod. If the marines fail to repair it in time, the pod attempts to launch but explodes as it is still damaged, killing/seriously wounding anything nearby. The marines then have to move on to the next pod, and so on. All the while being constantly under attack from the higher evolution aliens.
Personally I think something like this would be pretty fun to play, perhaps it would lend a more intense atmosphere than usual as the marines frantically try and repair their last escape pod before the timer runs out/they get overrun by fades and onos.
Edit: Goddamnit Hellspawn. I guess I should've read the whole thread first.

goto <a href='http://www.deadclan.net/maps.htm' target='_blank'>http://www.deadclan.net/maps.htm</a> and get ns_tdm_one , ns_tdm_one2 . thats different gameplay by the power of more than 1000 entities.
