Death 4 Res?

Interesting strat...
1st, i just want to make sure that you DON'T get res when you're "dead".. if not, disregard the rest of this post...

anyway, i was playing siege006 the other day, and we did something which was totally new to me... one guy went gorge and the rest of us all xenocided and while dead we typed "+use" in console, and stay dead (why does this work? i got no idea)... all the res naturallly went to the sole player alive on our team, and he was able to build uber fast...

as a general strat, i wonder if it'll be possible to have all of the team excpet gorge to rush, die off, and have half the team "+use" in console to stay dead while the other half keep pressure on marine start.. would this increase gorge res flow? this is a 1.04 strat.. it prolly won't work in 2.0 due to new res model...

Yes, the gorge would get more res. Unfortunately, it wouldn't work on any respectable server because the minute the marines saw that your team wasn't respawning, they would immediately rush the hive. Game over. The strategy works on the siege maps because the marines are obviously unable to attack during the first five minutes.

It's kind of a boring strategy though. I generally only play on a siege map if the server has gorgeres or some other way to give your resources to the gorge. That way you don't have to stare at a blank screen for over 5 minutes,

Your skulks are worth more to you alive than dead. A lot of skulks would have to stay dead for a long time for this to bring any benefit, and you can't afford to be without those skulks for so long.

But what *is* a good idea is if the gorge joins aliens at the start of the game and the rest all wait until the game starts before joining. That way the gorge gets all the res . And in the current patch, it's a good idea for the gorges to ungorge just before the second hive comes up, so that the resources are evenly distributed and the whole team are able to Fade faster.

When the second hive goes up you have no defence whatsoever anywhere, no webs, and the marines are most likely going to attack as soon as they can. At this point you should probably have two gorges to build D at both hives and web them, keeping them fairly safe.

As for staying dead for res, I think it would probably be more effective for half the team to constantly suicide the marine base, forcing them to drop more mines, and slowing them down. This way they are dead more then usual but you get the above benifits also.

Nonono... the idea is that as soon as the second hive goes up, since there are no gorges the res is distributed evenly. Immediately after it's up, the gorges go back to being gorges.

Yeah... and I thought I came up with that myself the other day hehe. It won us a game when we got fades so fast due to no gorges hogging our res.
