Possible Preserve Classes In Readyroom Bug.

SnO0PySnO0Py Join Date: 2003-02-27 Member: 14092Members
We all know that sometimes, when the round ends, someone is evolving, and is in egg form. When we get to the readyroom, you see alittle egg running around (funny as hell), now the problem is, if all classes are preserved in readyroom after the round ends...whats going to happen if you happend to be evolving when the round ended? Or was this already said?

Ah, but under normal circumstances, eggs can't walk. Is this an issue?

You won't be able to walk til you press f4 or use a jointeam command

Ah, ok lol. I thought f4 would get you unstuck, I just wanted to make sure you guys took care of that. Its gonna be fun to watch the n00bs cry

n00b1: I CANT MOVE! HELP ME!
n00b1: CMON TELL ME! THIS GAME IS LAME! I CANT MOVE!
    *starts typing "press f---"*
    n00b1 disconnects
    DeViL Cr0c0diLe: darnit.

As soon as you hear the sound announcing the end of the round, quickly start evolving. Then you too can be a happy bouncing egg in the ready room. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Actually, it might be worth setting that to auto specifically for the newbies. I'd hate to see our newbie base hurt because of something that was intended to be 'fun'.

we should make the eggs sprout legs and walk <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> or maybe when rounds end let teh evolve end so if you were going onos... then you are onos in RR

Thats fine if they auto it, but just don't go overboard. Look what happend to DoD, now that they made it n00b compatible, annoying deathcam (they're making it worse in 1.1, you won't be able to turn it off and use the blackscreen anymore, you have to have it on); autoreload (not so bad, but its bad with MGs); staying scoped while walking (I dunno if that had something to do with n00bs, either way, it made snipers easier to use for n00bs, making them overpowered for people with any hint of skill); not being able to turn off hint messages (will be fixed in 1.1 though). I guess they had to though, since it went retail, and more n00bs need to be attracted so they get lots of money, totally forgetting the vet DoDers. Kinda greedy I think. Most of the times they don't even listen to vet suggestions on that board, they only listen to the n00bs.

Reality check. Thats a bit of a leap from something which I can easily see causing problems to what your saying.

I stopped playing DoD because of the reasons that you listed, and others (minimap). I'm still playing ns2.0. Don't worry.

whats funny is when the vets kill themselves right when the round ends so when they are in the RR theres a dead onos on the ground, or what i like to call the "carpet gorge" <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Yes, but it could eventually add up to that, considering how much they want people to play ns and stay. I don't want them to n00b it down like DoD.

Just make the evolve quickly end in the RR, as if sv_cheats was set to 1.
Would be nice to be able to choose what you are in the RR, so you can just mess around <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

In 1.4, if someone is evolving and the round ends then u can still walk around. Is this gonna be changed or something in 2.0??

    Cliff's Notes:

In 1.0-, you walked around like a marine in the rr, even if you looked like a skulk.

In 2.0, you behave in the rr like you do in game.
    - skulks climb walls
    - Jet Packs fly
    - Lerks Fly
    - yada yada yada

In 1.0-, you could be an egg and still rove around like a marine.

In 2.0, you have to press f4 once to move as an egg, as Frog pointed out.

    Exam is at 3.

then it should automatically press f4 for everyone, because many newbie eggs done know about jointeam commands.

Then there is no point in preserving the "classes" in the RR.
