<div class="IPBDescription">just some help, plz</div> OK, well, I tried to be a commander once, but I heard form another of my posts that I did something wrong.
I said I was gonna do a Tech Rush, and I thought I was doing a tech rush, but then, ppl were all saying that I needed to expand more for this too happen. Could someone plz tell me what exactly is a Tech Rush and how to do it. And any other tips like this, such as other types of rush, etc.

You build IP first, Armory second, Arms Lab then, give a good player some mines and tell him to mine the IP, then send your people to nearest resource nozzle/s. You get your first resource tower (RT) up and then save for Arms Lab ARMOR upgrade. You buy the upgrade, send your people to more resource nozzles and build them (but not near enemy hive, because those would just get destroyed). Then you upgrade your marines guns/armor at the Arms Lab (you are now "teching") and upgrade the armory to Advanced Armory. Then you build Prototype Lab and upgrade Jetpack. Then just save resource points for jetpacks and HMGs (about 150 resources should do it) and give your best men the equipment. Then they own aliens second hive and the game is practically over. The faster you do all this, the better.
You can't "tech" efficiently with just 1-2 RTs. If you can get like 4-6, you should win as long as they don't get destroyed in 5 seconds. Just remember to hit RECYCLE BUILDING after you hear "Your structure is under attack...", hit the jump key and notice a skulk chewing your RT. This way you save cash and make it easier to get the JP/HMG and win. Also rebuild the RTs aliens destroy and if your lucky and your marines are good teamplayers, tell them to patrol around the RTs. This is the easiest way to win as a marine and is mainly the reason why 1.04 unbalanced.
If you wan't to play more "fair" and give the aliens some chance (after mastering JP/HMG rush, of course), tech HA instead and equip your men with HA/HMG/GL/Welders. Don't forget the GLs!!! Webs are deadly. Marines like this strategy better since it's more fun mowing down helpless skulks as a super-strong HA than try to fly around with low FPS...
In my mind is winning vs normally only one hive using LMG's only.
This stra relies on your rines wasting skulks and keeping them pinned. Your roll as a comm is to...
A: Keep building RT's
B: Keep TF and turret construction to a MINIMUM. Use mines instead. Rely on hive pressure to defend uncapped hives and res. ( i like to secure one hive)
C:Upgrades upgrades and more upgrades. Generally if your rines are good enuff youll win with lv1 armour and lv2 weapons and no motion.
D:lots of ammo and health drops. Dont ignore your rines!
These games dont generally last very long and is totally dependant on your rines skill with a gun. Your in more of a support roll.
If things go bad? Doesnt matter cause you have upgrades in the bank and presumaby one locked down hive. Settle down for a longer game. Phases and motion etc. Do not fear fades! Uber lmgs can make nasty work of fades just dont lose track of your res income!
Finish with a nice HA crush but after u get lv3 weapons.

* You will have Res for 2 HMG/JPers and every 90 secs another 2 of them.
* As stated by Pege above, 2x20 res can be spared for teching to lvl1 armor and weapons or even more res * towers if you can handle it (not loosing them too fast).

* As above, with the difference that you upgrade HA instead of JP:

All this taking into account no mines/Medpacks/Ammo is given by comm.
Aliens only 1 gorge, which is trying [2 res(3 total)]&[Hive] Strat.
Also no res tower eaten up by skulkys.

Eh, can't say I'm a fan of this. No upgrades in the mean time for the marines.
Yep, that's just the thing some commanders forget; simple waypoints. A bit hard ATM if your team is scattered, but it will continue to be so if the comm doesn't give any orders via chat or wp -I at least begin to feel like "ooohkay, everyone is just ramboing...."
Tactic for really, really aim-impared team (like it so often feels to be <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> Usually clear after two or three minutes )
1) 2 IP + Armory (Strategially placed in middle of the room, just so that the skulks can hop in, chomp, and hop out)
2) 2-3x mines ("Yes, put them on the FLOOR! NOT to the roof! Not to the.... Holy ****!")
3) As many RTs as you can have, 'course (since the team is aim-impared and/or team-game challenged, you must constantly keep recycling and rebuilding them...)
4) "Hmm... I wonder what there is on TV today... Better look, especially since the team is getting slaughtered or just ramboing..."
5) Up armory, arms lab (Heh, I luv this -nothing can go wrong <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> )
6) Proto lab and HA
7) Save up, recycle everything you don't need and keep dropping med / ammo as fades pound the base, pray that the team is at least now considering some team-work <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
8) Game over / Hive down -> Fade hunt <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
U cant get many upgrades if you want to rush as fast as possible for JP/HA, other than Lvl1 Weapons and Armor which is so cheap and fast you can get it without regret.
You need the res first for that, then you have whole tech tree and can research anything you wish. A JP/HA with Heavy Weapons is putting much more effective pressure on the ALiens than upgraded stock Marines with Lmg.
If you try upgrading Armor/Weapons you ll need
Lvl1=1min
Lvl2=2min
Lvl3=3min
Thats 6min after you have build ArmsLab for only 1 Type Lvl3 Upgrade.
After 5min you ll have to fear for second Hive going up. If you dont get some POWER to do anything about this, you re screwed.
Upgrading is for the long term, not for a Rush.
