Equilibrium Inspired Flash!
<div class="IPBDescription">OMG IT'S COMING!</div> I just heard from a good friend of mine (who happens to be a very talented flash artist), that he's decided to create a flash movie and/or game inspired by Equilibrium, primarily the Gun Kata (which really sells the movie). He told me he expects to have it out some time around the begining or end of August (his job has unpredicable hours, so he doesn't really have a fixed release date). He told me he'll try to supply us with stills of his work! Rejoice!!! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

:D
woot! those gun battles were even sweeter than the ones in Matrix!
you're on a roll. lol
Now I'm still waiting for a rendition of the infamous "matrix ping-pong" japanese video. Now THAT would be interesting.
Well I still loved the movie and the fights were fantastic, though slightly corny. The best one was the one with the squad he massacres, where he flips those shotguns to kill those two guys, then laters just jumps in the middle of the surprised group who didn't even have time to flip around correctly <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
havent seen a lot of movies...
i live in a cave
It's full of 'Commando' scenes (Yes, the Arnie film) where unnamed, generic guards die in droves because mysterious powers are 'at work'
Maybe if there'd been some sign of A) The Gun Kata being actually anything spectacular and B) The Grammaton Clerics actually noticing he had emotions beforehand (Which really, they should do long before) it would have had a great story.
Also, Shockwave, you have to understand.... He's been trained to spot emotion, so he knows what NOT to do.
"OMG HE DIDNT DIE WHEN THEY SHOT HIM WTH THIS MOVIE SI LAMEEEE!!!!!!!!!1"
Buh? Like it was hard to notice?
"Oh, I've been trained, but I didn't notice my 9 year old CHILD!!!"

And his colleagues once again didn't notice this?
Equilibrium : 2003 winnar of the 'More holes than Terminator Storyline' award. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Something I have yet to understand (SPOILERS)
is in the movie it goes like this:
Preston massacres the squad in the nethers
Preston and his teammate goes to this second place where Preston tries to help sense offenders, the partner hands him a gun and he gives "it" back.
When the gun trace is run, it happens it was Brandt's gun that massacred the crew. Indeed, Brandt has Preston's gun (presumably exchanging after everything happens)
Except if I'm missing something <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->
Watch the hands in the scene with the handing back and forth of the guns. Preston takes Brandt's gun with his left hand, and then hands Brandt his right-hand gun.
Buh? Like it was hard to notice?

Were you like asleep during the movie? He reported an emotion violoation on his own wife causing her to be terminated, which even when he was on the emotional supresssant doses caused him to have nightmares and pretty much screwed his head over.
Now why would someone who has already more or less had his own wife executed do the same to his daughter/son?

Actually, umm... one of the main points in the movie was that he <i>didn't</i> report his wife. Someone else caught it.
As far as I could tell, they DID know that he was feeling emotion. They knew that he would stop taking his dose even before he actually stopped it - this is sort of hinted at in the preliminary scene where he's questioned about why he missed the fact that his wife was off her dose. It was all "Father's" master plan to crush the resistance once and for all.
They just didn't count on Preston being the one uber-badass that could see through the trap, whup every guard in the place, and hack up all the other Clerics in the span of three seconds. Oops.
mmmmm... equilibrium...

Spoiler again <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Well what I mean is, at this point, they each have their own gun. After switching, Brandt has Preston's gun and Preston has Brandt's gun. The massacre happenned before this exchange (while Preston had his guns) yet the trace shows Brandt's guns.
Yes samwise I think you get it right. He explains all that in the emotion test when he knows Father's real identity. He says "I needed one to feel like them blah blah blah to be with them blah blah blah yet he would still be with us, or thinks we believe he's with us blah blah blah come to us completely without incident.. BEEEEEEEEEP -no... not without incident. etc etc"
To be honest, I have no idea. I haven't heard from my friend in 3 monthes and I have no idea what he's up to now.
*meh* This type of story has been done before. 1984 and Brave New World are like Equilibrium, but better. (Telescreens everywhere, thought police, big brother, etc etc) Also, I never understood Gun-Kata (sp?). Thier explanation in the movie makes sense, but in the final battle scene they would place the gun right up against the other guy's head, the other guy would then knock the gun down as it fires, then repeat this process about 50 times. I thought Gun-Kata was supposed to give you an advantage over your enemy due to how you position your body - that was not shown in the final battle scene. The movie itself was lacking, minus the battle scenes. But even half of them were just cheap matrix rip offs at cliché locations.
