<div class="IPBDescription">for v2 and 1.04</div> Share lerk tips you use or plan on using, if the tips are for 1.04 please say so, sam for v2.
1.04 - I usually lerk at hive 2, or if the rines are advancing fast, i use it at hive 1. Usually I would use regen, adren, and enhanced sight for goign round and killing people. But at 1 hive I use cara, so then I have a defensive edge over vanilla marines. at 2 hives I use regen and adren.
v2 - I lerk at hive 1 and use regen, celerity (arent lerks more energy efficient now?) and scent of fear, and fly around sporing the crap out of rine spawn.

I usually lerk at second hive or when we are really having trouble getting the second hive up and ranged is essential for taking out jetpackers.
As far as tips, I try and do my best to ignore the lerk spikes. They can be very distracting and are misleading considering the spikes curve downwards when in reality they fly straight and hit instantly. removing the spike graphics in 2.0 is definitely a change for the better, it will really make aiming easier as a lerk.
also I find its very very important, when lerking with just one hive thus no umbra, to stay moving when fighting a marine. This can be really difficult, because with only one hive you are typically without Adrenaline, making Flying and shooting very intense on personal energy reserves. So what I usually do is flap once or twice, and then hold down the spacebar to use glide, and glide _over_ the marine, constantly spiking... this usually confuses them and usually makes them lose their bead on you. Once thats done you can continue to spike, or swoop in for the bite.
Also when you have no umbra I've found it best to avoid confrontations with more than 1 or 2 marines unless you have backup. Lerks are really fragile, and being the focus of more than 2 LMGs can tear you up quickly. If you run into a cluster of marines it's best to flap away and use diversion to split them.
Distance is your friend, Spikes are incredibly accurate and as far as I can tell have no maximum range. the further you can get from a marine the bigger your advantage. Places like the ledges in Powersilo in NS_nothing make great perches for you to spike from.
as far as upgrades, I always always go Carapace and Adrenaline. without Cara lerks are way too easy to kill, and Adrenaline is self explanatory. Healing I havn't found to be a problem, regen can be nice for that but usually travelling to the closest DC/Hive is very quick when flying.
Rid this world of those lame spores.
P.S. Spiker lerks without umbra are screaming kill me if the marines got at least level 1 armor.
O and yes always use cara. Regen lerk = dead lerk.
2.0 - I think I'll enjoy silence VERY MUCH, using spores as a distraction (I'll target not marines but somewhere else and maybe all around them), maybe at 2 hives umbraing some strange place to drive marines into believing I'm not where I currently am and spiking.
Totally agreed. Thats why i think they need to go. Cheap lame kills.
now that I noticed, celerity won't help you at all, it won't make you fly faster, only walk faster and that is on the ground. The only good point of cele lerk is that you take off faster (horizontal speed)

What's to prevent the marines from simply walking out of the cloud?

In 2.0, airspeed is capped to 2 times maximum speed, so celerity will increase your airspeed.
sorry, didn't know.
