Can Not Allocate More Than 128 Hud Sprites?

- 1024x768, D3D
- NO EAX

Well basically at random times when I play, i get the message Can not allocate more than 128 HUD sprites, it kicks me out of game back to the main menu where it freezes and i need to ctrl+alt+del out of HL. It mostly happens in the comm chair. I have the latest graphics drivers, i've tried reinstalling HL and NS, tried formatting HD, but it still does this. Anyone have any ideas?

    Here's the ultimate solution, but if you do that it won't allow you to play at a resolution below 640x480.

    -go to ns\sprites
    -back up the hud.txt file
    -replace it by this one:

    IMPORTANT: the 115 must be in the FIRST line.

    Would I be able to replace all the 640s with 1024s? I usually play in 1024x768

    There are 2 values possible 320 and 640.
    - 320 is for resolutions between 320x240 and 512x384.
    - 640 is for resolutions from 640x480 to 1600x1200

    Use 640. If you put 1024 you may not see anything.

    Lordofokra, do you use any custom sprite replacements at all? i.e. is your copy of NS completely vanilla?

    Yep. It's actually a half-life engine limitation. Even in 2.0 it still crops up in builds from time to time; NS just pushes HL right to teh limits of its capacity...
