    I always have my pistol out first. About the only way marines can kill cara3 aliens with no upgrades without being bitten is to unload their pistol from a distance and then gun them down with your lmg when they start to close in. Plus, some skulks are stupid enough to think you don't have much lmg ammo if you use your pistol first(since most people use it as their backup weapon) so they are more likely to rush you and die. And ambushing skulks are easy as hell to pistol down, just jump in and click like a madman(I dont' endorse mousewheels or scripts, I have the most pistol kills on the server I play on without them <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> ). Personally though I like to duck walk into an area where a skulk is camping, since they usually rely on sound more than sight and might take a second or two to comprehend your presence and decend, at which point they'll be dead.

    When facing a skulk alone, fire about 15 bullets in it's general direction (not all will hit) and if it isn't dead, whip out the pistol and nail it.

    bursts don't do anything in NS. It doesn't matter if you burst or if you hold down the fire key, the bullets hit at the same percentage

    No they dont - it's more difficult to see without burst firing. ALso it helps against "lead finger" - when you know you aren't hitting the skulk but you anyway. Or in my case, my comp can't handle muzzle flash so if i fire too quickly i will lag (j/k)

    i try to lead my target and anticipate where he is going sort of
    then wait for him to move into my scope

    With LMG, always continuous fire. There's no point to burst, unless you have trouble seeing your target, which you won't have if you just keep your crosshairs on them. I only stop firing when: they're dead/there's something obstructing my view/they're out of range/there's a better target. Is there really much more to it?
