its much easier to have a responsive GL to fight in close quarters rather than the laggy one right now, you're basically a sitting duck if you use the GL with a ping of 200+ in close quarters, the grenade laaaaaags

I think it says somewhere in the change log that the gl now lag predicts, so the answer to your question is essentially yes. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

That is kind of the idea, in that GL'ing at close range should be nigh-on impossible. A GLer should need close support to keep him alive, and also keeping the GL server side helps with lag prediction things...

The problem isn't that the GL is good or bad close, it's that it's so much worse for high pingers.

True. It really should be the case that your ping has no effect on your game, as far as can be controlled by the devs. Like the JPs and FPS problem.

That is not possible :/ Ping will always have an effect. You can add all prediction client side, so high ping players will have a nice game as well when using weapons, but then it will become very jerky to people with lower ping as they get hit behind walls and such stuff (because on their end they were already behind some wall taking cover).

All client side weapon prediction is a tradeoff between having smooth weapons and smooth dodging. It's even worse with projectile weapons like the acid rocket of the fade. With client side prediction you would see it miss you slightly on one side (from the victim pov), but then it still registered a direct hit. That feels very weird and is a big NO imo. You never can make veryone happy, no matter how good your netcode is.

I hate when you get hit by bullets that didn't hit you

To answer the original question: yes, this has already occurred some time ago.

GL laggy??? wootttttt piff never got a 180-220 ping and never had any issues with the GL ever tbh that and the shotgun are my best weapons.

Further note HMG and HA dont go well togther its JPs and shottys all the way <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
