    This used to happen to me when i still ran on Win98.

    I personally blame it on bad RAM and a dodgey power-supply.

    try running the game in OPENGL instead of Direct3D. <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo-->

    My roommate had this problem last year and switching to Direct3d corrected it for him. Don't know why that works, but it did for him.

    Yeah, Direct3D worked for me as well.

    Although i did a format and reinstall with Windows 2000, and now everything runs smoothly

    You might want to try just reinstalling HL, as well (or first).

    It is video related.. I suggest if your using an Nvidia Chip set that you roll back to the previous set of drivers.

    Yep. Reinstall NS, reinstall HL, reinstall your video card, roll back your drivers, scandisk, reformat. That's in order of severity... hopefully you'll fix the problem before you have to reformat. ^^

    Yeah, fingers crossed that 2.0 will fix the problem as a peripheral benefit.

    Im sorry but when people offer you help you should be a little more greatful than you are, and if you could try to be a bit more descriptive of your problem it would help.

    It's your fault you didn't get an answer, you didn't give enough information, and its your POS comp not NS. So quit acting like a child.

    Why not do scandisk right away? That seems to be the easiest solution.

    I had something similar to this happen to me in DOD, it ran fine unless I joined an internet server in which case it crashed. A quick reinstall of the mod did the trick, I am fairly sure that I overwrote an essential file with an older version when re-patching to the latest HL version (due to a virus I had).

    So, try reinstalling NS first, then reinstall HL. And make sure your PC is virus free.

    why are you guys still "helping" him? The typical answer is this. Tell us if you tried this, Hedgehog. ANY of it.

    Ok, my questions. Have you tried running the game? Is it only when you connect to an online game that it does this (IE. Can you manually load maps locally or operate on a LAN?).

    Also, this +could+ be an overheating related problem (i used to have it before, i got about 5 minutes of gaming then it'd restart itself, basically it overheated every time and wimped out). Have you checked your CPU temperature in BIOS, or an windows based monitoring tool like Hmonitor?

    So many questions, so little reason for helping.
