what's the deal with comms having one ip when there are two hives? one of the biggest advantages of marines in early game is the potential to outspawn aliens... i just don't get it when comms decide to stick with one ip even tho there are two hives.. you should always have 2 ips per hive... that way you can always outspawn aliens..

    The com might sacrifice spawn superiority for an early weapons/armour upgrade. It depends on the size and skill of the teams, I guess.

    snidely got it - ip's just cost too much ... there is no point in getting a 2nd IP when your team doesn't die enough, and there are HMG's to be bought

    I think a lot of pubbers are stuck on the idea of 2 ips. If you have a team of 6 people, two ips is really quite a waste. If you have 15.....

    Unless your team sadly, sucks... really sucks...

    Seriously though, you shouldn't need to "outspawn" them, unless they are kicking your ****, in which case, an upgrade that boosts combat ability would be more useful than a second res-wasting IP.

    And if your entire team (except comm) is dead, isnt it cheaper for the comm to use distress beacon?
    Or maybe its not.. if you all die over and over but that extra 22 (is it 22?) res early game really puts you behind, it could have gone to getting you armor 1 or weapons 1 which would have kept you alive longer.

    Often when marines die in pubs they die in groups, and thats when you really need 2 ip's, and I usually get a second ip right after I upgrade weapons. Recovering fast after a failed assault can be the key to victory, and most marines get really **** off if they have to wait 5 minutes to spawn.

    well.. the reason for why it is a viable option to use the extra res on a 2nd ip early game is so that you can push the hive hard early game, hopefully delaying alien expansion... assuming marines and aliens are trading death/kills at a ratio of 1:1.. marines will win just because marines will outspawn aliens.
