Could You Tell Me Enter The Matrix's Plot?

DreadDread Join Date: 2002-07-24 Member: 993Members
Now that I've seen both two Matrix movies and Animatrix, I don't want to miss anything only because I don't want to buy the game(everyone says it's bad). So if someone would be kind enough to give me a link(I tried to find one myself) or tell me what happened in Enter the matrix. I believe it's not illegal to tell verbally a movies/games plots

I'm not really interested of the game. I'm not even sure if my comp would support it(PIII 500/384/32mb graphics card). I just don't want to miss any clever sideplot.

I'm just eagerly waiting Matrix Reloaded Directors cut on dvd so I can see all the scenes that were dumbed to the game from the movie :/

On monday a friend and I rented this awful piece of crap for X-Box. We knew the PC version was horrible, but we thought maybe the console versions were better, as they usually are in games meant for consoles. Sadly, we were wrong. It was very funny though, laughing at how horrible the game was. I mean really I haven't laughed this hard at a game's low quality since Daikatana...

Define "everyone". Everyone on this board thinks it's terrible, I and all my friends think its great. Someone give me a list of the things wrong with it and I will either come up with a counter-argument. The only faults I will accept are that both characters run really stupidly (although they ARE sprinting...) and they climb even more stupidly (like some kind of puppet). Oh, and Niobe never drove ME into any buildings, although I can see how that would become annoying

Anyway, back to the point. You haven't missed much plot-wise in ETM, the first mission is to collect the package that the Osiris crew dropped in "last flight of the Osiris", which inevitably involves breaking into a post office, beating up a load of security guards, then of course the police arrive etc etc...

After reading the contents of the package, the 2nd mission is to send out the message to all the other ships, which (from what I can tell) is done by leaving messages on answer phones inside the matrix. I can only assume that the hovercraft (no... not HOVAR craft, sorry!) captains check their inboxes regularly

After making all the calls to the captians (incidentally Morpheus's inbox is under the guise of the "Daniel institute of dream interpretation"), you find out some miscellaneos ship has had a team member captured by agents, and its your job to rescue him (what the other team were DOING when their guy got captured isnt mentioned.....)

After rescuing the guy (name unimportant), you see a cutscene of Niobe, Ghost and (unimportant) jacking out. When only Niobe is left, a wierd Bum-guy with about 5 wristwatches on his arm walks past:

Wierd bum guy: Seventy five hours.....

Niobe: What?

WBG: thats how long Zion lasted for last time, heh heh heh
N: who are you?

WBG: Me? Im nobody. Just a.... spectator enjoying a ride.... Seventy-five hours......

The next mission is set right at the start of Matrix reloaded, you know, when the meeting of the captains is taking place and it gets raided by agents and SWAT team. Nothing is really revealed here that isnt mentioned in the film; you have to rescue a few miscelaneous characters and get them to an exit where they can jack out.

In the next mission, I forget why, you end up in the french guy's chateau, where you are inevitably captured by vampires (you remember that the french guy said his servants were all programs from old versions of the matrix, right?). Long story short you escape.

This is the part where i get a little confused, not sure if i remember this correctly. I seem to remember that you escape, but are chased by the twins, and have to shake them off, but at that moment, surely the twins were chasing Neo and Co?

Anyway, the next section is another driving mission where basically your only objective is the get behind the Semi where Morpheous is having his little showdown with Smith before he falls. The cool part is, you can actually SEE Smith and morpheous fighting! I couldn't tell you whether or not they are performing the exact same moves, for the majority of the mission the semi is too far away to see anything but a tiny black blob on the top.

Anyway, you know what happens next, morpheous is caught by Niobe and Ghost's car, Neo saves the day, the end.

From this point on, I haven't played. All I know for sure is that you have to take down the power at a Nuclear power plant. I also hear something about you have to fight Trinity???

Oh well, hope that satisfies your desire for Matrixage. This was a long post and I must sleep now.

Agreed. Me and several of my friends also thought the game was enjoyable, and far from the travesty everyone is making it out to be. People are just being snooty, In my opinion it was money better spent then on Generals, because while Generals looked spiffy and didn't have any horrible grapical bugs like bad running, it was a borefest.

So stop being so elitist, it was a fun game, and you can't knock it until you've finished all the hacking and gotten all the training programs? What's that you didn't even try hacking? I thought so.

And if you go into playing it as a fan of the Matrix and not some snooty eltist gamer you will enjoy it plain and simple. And all of your "waste of 50 bucks" comments become irrilevant when you realize you are just funding future work by the W. brothers.

So shadup about how bad it is already cause it wasn't that bad.

Yeah, just because you can't use focus properly

Incidentally, you can't hit jack poopy with handguns you start with, but then, at the start of the game you don't really NEED guns.

And if you use focus when shooting you tend to hit more

Yah I never got that whole too hard to aim argument, I never had too much trouble with it.

And also focusing while using weapons leads to a lot of fun when you get entry shotguns and ss-shotguns. Personally I just had hours of fun running up behind unsuspecting marines and unloading my ss-shotgun into them.

Not to mention when you disarm whie focusing Ghost tends to unload several shots into people's faces after he drops them.

Great, so people that didn't like it need to shut it just because you like it?
These are our opinions and they go both ways.

You aren't going to miss much "plot" as ETM doesn't really conclude or fill in any details. The gameplay is bland because all you did is just matrix jump to the bad guy and beat the living snott out of him. Repeat about 100 times. But anyway, I didn't buy it, my brothers did so I had fun playing it for a day.
• dr_ddr_d Join Date: 2003-03-28 Member: 14979Members
I'm just bothered by the fact that most people who complain about it A) never played it B) Haven't beat it C) haven't done any of the hacking missions. and D) The extended trailer of revolutions at the end was worth the 50 bucks in and of itself.

Extended trailler? Hacking missions?

*rents ETM again*

(the hacking bored me a bit, but I suppose I can bear it. I also confused me, since it doesn't follow the same rules as DOS! I couldn't figure out why typing "cd a:\tools" wasnt doing anything

Thank you Jobabob and Nil IQ! Now seems like the only important part was that "Neo is still connected to the source" or something like that. Well, worth of reading anyway. Thanks a lot again, now I don't have to feel sorry for myself for not knowing all the sekrats from the game

Arg, beaten my Jobabob!

Little did I know he would use bullet-points.......

You also missed out the lesbo-esque scene in french-nutter's place with Persephane and Niobe, YES THE EXACT SAME SCENE WITH PERSEPHANE AND NEO IN THE FILM.

And it also reveals in that scene that Niobe really still loves Morpheous
