<div class="IPBDescription">any one else ?</div> Hey. it was working fine othe day but now when i start it up it trysto look for up-dates as normal except it hangs and i carnt close the prog down. just sits there and when i try ctrl+alt+del it my comp hangs :/ is this just me ? lol

    hmm no I've not found this. Can you get into the options to turn off auto updating before it crashes?

    never mind. my comp unfroze after 20mins. i guess my comp needs a format :/ 80 gig of data to back-up and my writer is offline. soon as i getinto windows my cddrive and writer dont show as on my comp. yet in dos i have both drives.

    any one got any ideas how i can get writer back up ? i have alot of work on my comp amonst other stuff and i realy dont want to just format lol.

    I would make certain that your drivers are the actual ones for the device. Sometimes windows OS tends to revert to the default CD drivers.

    I've had a few problems with the autoupdater too. Now I just download a new version from the website instead.

    I have had a few problems with auto update. Usally all I have to do though is close it, start it agin and let it go though its deal a second time. Most of the problems seem to come from it having to turn off to update but it forgets to turn its self off BEFORE its starts up date.
    One a side note: I like CD but one thing that is REALLY starting to annoy me is how I have to turn it on, go into HL, look for servers and then test servers untill I can find one that CD works on (since alot seem to be using something like VAC that doesent allow CD. It would be nice if some one made something that turns CD off and on automaticly as you need it. If there is something like that out allready could someone point me to it?

    Did you install any new hardware or software before the CD-R stopped working? Sounds like an ACPI error to me.

    Yes, use any of:

    <a href='http://www.hlsw.org' target='_blank'>HLSW</a>, <a href='http://www.udpsoft.com/eye2/' target='_blank'>The All Seeing Eye</a>, <a href='http://www.gamespy.com' target='_blank'>Gamespy or Gamespy Arcade</a>.

    I personally (would) use The All Seeing Eye (ASE) if I joined other servers, but as I play only on one server I don't need to <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->
    It can be configured to turn on any anti-cheat software depending on whether or not that particular server requires it.

    I had problems with 3.1.0 , which crashed HL when joining a server , but not with 3.2.0...
