    i have used:
    - <a href='http://www.tgtsoft.com/' target='_blank'>StyleXP</a> (to be able to use custom themes)
    - <a href='http://www.samurize.com' target='_blank'>Samurize</a> (to make everything you can see on the desktop, PC stats, CPU usage graph, the TV-program, Random qoutes, Countdown to HL2, the .png files, the Winamp bar, and the uptime bar..
    - Adobe photshop (to edit/make the .png snapped from my custom theme...)
    - not using it right now, but <a href='http://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/' target='_blank'>DesktopX</a> - very good program to make your desktop pretty, also have some nice features as Pop-up menues.

    I swear, you guys all have such messy desktops. I have my desktop's color nice blue and plain. No funky graphics or "cool" icons, calendars, graphs, whatever...

    heh yes it got it's downsides - look at my pic, it ays 13% CPU usage - at that time i only had IE maybe winamp too open....

    BTW most of the progs i have listed is 2K or newer OS req.

    Exactly my response. I changed my work computer's loading & power down screens a couple of years ago (WHEN I worked there!) but not my home ones - they flash by too quick for me to bother.

    I dont have a different pic but when I start up my PC it says


    "Command Station Online *beep beep beep*"

    When I shut it down it plays the CC Log out sound

    When I empty the recycle bin it plays the structure recycle sound.

    When I get a virus get the Distress beacon alarm goes off when the Norton window apears.

    i wouldn't say that it greatly depends on how you set it up, ex. mine takes 16.732Kb right now...

    I like the one of Neo because it features him on the right-hand-side, leaving the whole left side free for your icons, etc.

    I tend to avoid glaring white on my desktops.

    My loading sound features Milla Jovovich intoning seductively: "I've been waiting for you..."
