3d muzzle flashes

Does ns have this feature?
Many mods use only a single sprite to create muzzle flashes. This method is simple, but it does have one drawback: muzzle flashes only look realistic when viewed from a certain angle.

Since NS has a particle system, I was wondering if it uses this particle system to display muzzle flashes.
If you don't know what I mean, take a look at this screenshot from the Global Warfare mod:

the jetpack uses the particle system for it's fire
so i think it's possible. However i don't know if they inplemented it. if it's possible it would be a l33t idea

Methinks someone akin to what AHL has would be ideal... it obviously can be saved for future betas however.

With the right sprite animation, this should be perfectly possible with the particle system. We'd require a sprite which animates from the initial burst from the gun, and then expands and shades outwards. Then it would be used on a PS which shoots at a constant rate in the direction of the blast, and it should look fine from all angles.

The downside to this method of course is that it takes a lot more rendering power due to all the sprites laid on top of each other.

Also, I doubt this'll make it into the first release, as we really want to get the first version out ASAP and don't have enough time to implement all the niceties we'd like to right now.

Then, this leaves something to look forward to in future releases, right?

Well, this sounds like it'd be really cool actually. Gotta love that newfangled particle system and all its flashy fancy-dancy effects, don'tcha? In deed this would be something to look forward to, it sounds like it would rock!

when inplemented you should create a conole command to enable/disable particle system .. for the low end systems.

would be good, though as mentioned I worry about the rendering issue
