format c:
and in their its got all the look at partictions and screw up partictions and stuff.
But make sure your BIOS Settings are to CD Start, this makes the Computer run from the CD ROM when it starts.
c:
cd\
fdisk
from the fdisk program you want to erase all partitions, so go to delete partitions, once thats done, create a new partition of the maximum size, and FAT32 if it asks for the filesystem type.
then you reboot, and come abck to the c prompt, and type format C:
it says OMG R U SURE!?111 and you hit y.
then it chugs away for a bit, and your left with a blank C:
now reboot with cd rom support,
and you have two choices, run setup from the cd, and let it go, or theres a few more steps you can take to make life easier on yourself in the long run.
type this:
c:
md win98
then go to the cd and find all of the .cab files, theyre probably in a folder called DRIVERS, so you would do
E:
cd DRIVERS
copy *.* c:\win98
c:
cd win98
setup
---
now instead of copying from the CD it has the win98 cd on your harddrive in a folder called win98. this way whenever thething would say "insert your win98 cd to continue installing" it just wont, becasue its right there. its really a nice bit of help, because you kno yer gonna lose that cd and its gonna ask for it for some reason, but this way it wont!
put the WinXp cd in the drive.
press reset.

yeh.. seriously. after years of freaking around with boot disks for windows 95 and 98.
I absolutely love my windows xp bootable cd.
Fantastic, and you can set your partitions as you install.
I format about twice a year now, cause its so easy.
I love the way I'm dubbed "a kid" for never needing to format
a drive before :-/
Anyways, I've printed out the important for future reference.

Every flavor of DOS (and various NT command shells) since doomsday. With drivers, without drivers, with partition tools, with everything. All made in easy to run floppy disk packages. An IT gem.
