Not what you think, trust me.
Flayra has created a marvelous little chunk of intellectual property with NS, giving us a rich universe detailing the TSA and its interaction with the Kharra. This won't happen, but I think it'd be cool to have a single player game from the perspective of a TSA soldier outside the context of a war with the Kharaa. Think about what else the TSA does (and did, before the arrival of the Kharra): catching space pirtes, regulating interplanetary disputes, etc. I'd love to see a single player game of a TSA soldier placed into a tense situation- quelling a civil rebellion on a distant planet, then having to fight his way off of it after a Kharra invasion maybe? There would be no commander mode, no resources, no tech tree, etc. Just a nice single player FPS mod using the intellectual property of NS. This is just speculation about a "This would be cool" idea- don't flame me about "n0 NS singel prayer ever!!!!111newbbb1!!!", since this is a different idea than making the current incaranation of NS single player with bots. Thanks!

maybe.. if i dont get bored ;D
I don't think a NS 1Player would be the best thing... would you like to have a 1player game inwhich you die in 2-4 attacks? I don't think so...
There will be no way you can do a single player version of NS and still expect it to have RTS qualities.
I played both DK and DK2 (quite awesome).
Really, the whole FPS mode really was just a gimmick. It wasn't really useful for much of anything.
A better analogy might be the new BattleZone series. That was a neat blend of RTS and FPS.
Supposedly we'll make the attacks much less damaging and make it possible to win.
You could have a computer controlled Commander with 16 or so Marines (it's just asking for co-op) with lots of objectives given by the Comm.
Like System Shock 2 on a massive scale, with A.I. team mates. It could be great.

Hehe, this made me think of Halo.
I have seen HL server side mods that have JP's, so it can't be too complex, right?
Well maybe it is. Either way the Blue Shift in space idea (or They Hunger in space, or [/i]USS Darkstar[/i] in spa... nevermind).
An alien/marines SP would be cool. Two SP games, same place. One is you're an alien and another you're a marine.
the team is still geting togever, so we hope to have it out by 1.2 - subs to the thread, and watch as we progress through the sp addon

I love my idea. Why can't others see that and love it too? Sniffles.

They just have to think the following.
There is Warcraft 3. There will be an World of Warcraft.
Same World, diferent stories. Same background, diferent gameplays.
It's hard to explain what I mean, but you could have a few maps, the end goal being destroying one of the hives or something, or maybe a story into the way the whole war started?
Sorry if I misread
Now imagine yourself a TSA soldier, trained from the start to be the best, and to stretch each and every resource and opportunity to its fullest. The training can even be IN this single-player game. As a TSA soldier, you are sent out in the field, battling against overly-powerful, multi-system corporations, shady governments, and maybe a few good, old-fashioned bandits. As the game progresses, you hear about this "Kharaa" threat that has materialized in a few places here and there, but you were not selected to be a Frontiersman, so your primary concern is that of the common citizen against the age-old faceless corporation/government.
And then, because you just KNOW it has to be included in the single-player game, on a routine lock-down, you encounter a new form of life. Something you've never seen before. And a routine lock-down becomes a furious fight for survival against a new enemy.
As the hero, you will of course be given the chance to destroy their Hives, and save the day, but only for that singular space station. Elsewhere, the battle rages on, and the TSA decided to recognize your valor with an appointment to the Frontiersmen.
I absolutely love this idea. Aliens and humans are all fun and good, but Jeff Paris has managed to flesh out this world so brilliantly that it would be negligent to NOT make something like this. For someone who has the time and abilities to do so. Me, I can write the promotional literature.
-Ryan!
I loathe people who keep dogs. They are cowards who haven't got the guts to bite people themselves.

Th Natural-Selection Universe and its background is much too great to be only a multi-player game. And if Flayra never intended Natural-Selection to be a singleplayer game (that's what I thinkand Natural-Selection will most likely never be a singleplayer game), Jammer's Idea is just perfect.
Don't make Natural-Selection a singleplayer game, make something new, something with the feeling of natural-selection, but much deeper (story-wise, not gameplay-wise)!
Anyway, I've understand what you mean, Jammer, and I'll do everything I can to support this idea. If you need any help, contact me. Still, I would suggest to wait with such a project untill Half-Life 2 is out.
It will be the only way to be sure of that you wont hear "com, gimme jp/hmg now!!"
of aliens or space pirate, maybe you can ever play as the space pirate heh, anyways for all the ideas I have seen we should probably wait a long time to see this because if they could do all of this it would have to be on the HL2 engine or even the Battle Field 1942 engine, which will take a while because they need to redo all of the art work and everything. EVERYTHING!
Natural Selection: Survival of the Fittest.
I know this is a shameless bump, but I think the person who started this thread had a great idea.
Hehe. Not gonna happen. Maybe one day... one day...
And infected marine: Look at your post date.
Look at the previous reply's post date.
Are you seeing anything that would strike you as bad about them?
Maybe the week+ difference?
Its great to be involved in the forums, but please don't be a Topic Necromancer. Bumps are usually with posts that die after a day or 2... this was full fledged 'Rising from the Dead' Jesus stuff. :-P
