First-ever Wacom Art

I'm buying a WACOM in the near future, and got to play with my friend's 6"x8" Intuos2 a couple weekends ago. This is the first time I'd ever touched the thing, and the entire piece only took about an hour, so it's *very* rough work. I was also still getting used to the pad itself, which is why the line art is crap. Anyway, here goes...

All considered, that's quite awesome. I mean you free-handed a dinosaur, hands and all, and colored it, all in a short time, using an interface you have never used before... Wow. I <i>so</i> can't draw dinosaurs..

What type you getting and isn't it a bit late to buy it on campus (where it's cheaper, so I hear)? I'm thinking about getting one as well but considering my complete lack (self imposed, of course) of free time, I think I'll wait 'til <i>next</i> summer. I lack funds as well..

Another first-ever for me, art-wise. While this was done with a mouse in Photoshop, rather than a WACOM, it is the first time I have ever *not* kept the original sketch in the final image. I'm extremely happy with how it turned out.

Update: I just bought a <a href='http://www.wacom.com/productinfo/9x12.cfm' target='_blank'>9x12" WACOM Intuos2</a>. I am $415 poorer. i want one of those !! .... say erh... coil... where do you live ? do you have any alarms in your house ? how close to your Wacom will you sleep ? do you live in a 1 floor house ? could i get a blueprint of your house ?

I like Coil, but no offence, there's something about depth in your pictures that takes over the realism. I like the Rose, I think it was real at first.
