- Slow his speed so that with celerity he runs slightly faster than LA marines. - Decrease the speed enhancement from charge to half what it is now. - Increase the stun duration of stomp by 2-3x and make it take almost all of the onos' energy. - Increase health to 600 and armor to 400 (with level 3 cara). - Ability order: gore, devour, stomp, charge - Make devour give health/armor back at the rate of level 3 regen.
You guys need to stop arguing over something you haven't even played. The onos does not end all. Hell, I ran into a HA/HMG marine today as a hive 1 onos and because I had an LA marine in my belly I couldn't kill the HA marine before he killed me. I was at around 70% health, if that gives you any idea of how weak an onos can be. This doesn't mean, however, that the onos doesn't need balancing. I believe it still does, as I have posted here.

Those all seem to be solid ideas. However, I wonder if making stomp into one BIG stomp is a good idea. Esp. if marines can dodge it.
And yes, I didn't want to argue about 1.1 mechanics which I have never tried, I try to keep all my arguments down to simple one situation theory.
I do want to talk about:
The general rule of thumb is that first you try to work out an idea in simple theory, then you test it in more complex theory by actually playing it out.
I really like the idea of the onos going the same speed as a LA marine with level 3 celerity and faster than a heavy armor w/o it. It gives more to the "wait... i hear something" and then the "OH F***! ONOS! RUN Y'ALL!!!" when you're in heavy armor; since you know a onos will catch up to you eventually.
but i dont think that one/two LA marines should be greater than a onos. it'd really suck to die from a 2 player vanilla marine group. maybe like 2 fully upgraded LA marines = 1 onos; but only since the LA marines CAN outrun the onos. it'd only be fair for the onos player to say: "No, this wont work. Must... Get back. To heal..." against 3+ LA marines and the LA marine players to say "Yeah! we can take em!" and for 1 or 2 vanilla marine with no upgrades to say "Uh oh. Gotta run now."

It COULD happen... doesn't mean it will.
If an onos saw two LA marines, he would have to be really stupid to leave them alone or get a skulk or two AT least for backup.
It would sorta be like this:
You are in a large room. Two mosquito's are buzzing about. You know you can't get them, and you know they will bite you, so it's just best to leave them alone.
Remember, if the onos doesn't have celerity, he will have some other upgrade probably. Regen or carapace would definatly make it tough as hell for an LA to kill the onos, or an onos with scent of fear could just retreat behind some courner and greet them as they go around it.
Remember, what I suggested is a soft counter, not a hard one. A soft counter, like all of the others in NS right now. Hard counters would be bad.
I wouldn't mind if the counter to onos was weaker weaker units. The onos job would be base wrecking, serve as some sort of mobile "base" that aliens can return to, and effectively eliminate HAs. That's enough.
