My Thumb Has Carapace

<div class="IPBDescription">My thumb pwns</div> Yes so its really amazing how our bodies react to differnt threats,and how it evoloves over time. hyperthermia, sweating, going into shock, are actualy your body trying to help its self.

Anyways here is an example I think I briefly mentioned a while ago somewhere cant remember.

Yea so while some people may suck on there thumb when they are a baby I chewed on mine.

laugh it up I dont care.

So now my left hand thumb's skin is really thick. It doesnt look deformed or anything at all. But if you touch it you can feel that its harder then my other fingers.
So yea I can take a razor blade and poke my thumb repeatidly and I wont cut myself. If I do it on my other fingers Ill cut myself.
Pretty cool huh?

I have level one carapace! <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> Maybe if everyone had skin like that we woudlnt have so many scraps and cuts.

    I actually have two calluses on my hands. I have a massive lump on my index finger which is a writing callus, and I also have a pipette callus on my thumb.

    Neither are very attractive objects :/

    I've got three, all in kind of wierd places. One on the inside pad of my thumb, one on the second inside joint of my index finger, and another on the inside of that first segment of my middle finger.

    With the grip I use for fencing, those are the three major contact points. The rest of my skin is pretty smooth, but those three spots are hard as rock.

    BTW: Did you know that, save the bullet coming out of a hunting rifle, the tip of a fencing foil is the fastest moving piece of sports equipment in existance? Some world-class people can get it to break the sound barrier, hitting an opponent from enguard position in terms of 1/150th of a second.

    I like having my soft hands. It's just a matter of wearing gloves whenever I'm doing labor, and also a factor that I have naturally soft skin. As my friend Laura gently put it, "You have the f***ing hands of a 12 year old girl!" I can't say how a 12 year old's girls hands would be, but I know that girls like my hands. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I have some huge ones on my toes, they're like level 2 carapace, even 3. That's about it though, used to have them on my fingertips from playing guitar but that was a while ago.

    I don't have it as much now, but i used to have thick skin on my feet. I used to walk barefoot everywhere, and as a result, i grew a high tolerance to rocks and other pointy objects on the ground. I am convinced that i could have walked hot coals at that moment in my life and not have felt a thing.

    I use a Visconti Large, with a glove that's probably a fraction bigger than it should be.

    <img src='http://www.triplette.com/sport%20fencing/images/visconti.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
    That's a small or a medium in the picture, mine is a little beefyer and gives me a little more control.

    It's a good grip, fits my hand damn near perfectly, although I do get some callouses, but that's to be expected.

    middle finger, writing calus... lvl 1.

    i swear i have regen lvl 1 though... cuts on my arm and things heal up in like, 20 minutes to a hour. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo--> bleeding stops within seconds if its a small one; about 30 seconds if its bigger...

    heh. i guess since i've made scars all over my body, its gained faster skin growth/repair. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    i wouldn't count it good for healing bullet wounds, though. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Legionnaired is that electric sport fencing? because in classical fencing i think we arent allowed that type of guard, we ahve mostly straight single peices, although my instructor does have an italian pistol grip.

    on topic... the corners of my thumb and index finger have level 1 carapace from a thousand thousand computer case screw tightenings.
