<div class="IPBDescription">usualy bad, RF2 might be good.</div> So in the off topics opinion dont you think that for the most part, voice acting in PC games kinda or usualy sucks. I mean its never that great.

I was just reading up on the Making of Red Faction 2. It appears they might be making a game with half way decent voice acting. All of the main characters voices are done by rather good actors instead of newby morons. Some of them inlcude...

Christian Campbell -Max Steel, The Street

Jason Statham- The Italian Job, The Transporter, The One, Ghosts of Mars

Lance Henriksen- Aliens, Alien3, Hard Rain, The Quick and the Dead, The Terminator, many many, more including films coming in later '03 and 04

Julie Claire- Meet Joe Black, That '70s SHow, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Boston Public

oh well. Lets see how this turns out. Anyone know of any games with good voice acting?

GTA: Vice City has a massive amount of famous people (including Ray Liotta, Tom Seizmore, Dennis Hopper, Burt Reynolds and Jenna Jameson! YAY!). The voice acting is great <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

But as far as dire voice acting goes, it comes down to one of my favourite games, Project 0 (no, i don't shut up about it), the voices are really slow... and boring.... and go on... and on.... and on. It is truely awful.

Max Payne has terrible voice acting with the exception of the main guy (Max duh....).

    VC is great though.

I hate to admit it, but i loved the FMV in the Command & Conquer series. So what if Kane was one of the lead texture artists?!?! (or something, i remember being told that) he rocked! i cried when i saw him killed <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Metal Gear solid's voice acting was good, i dont know if anyone else noticed, but the person who did the english (or the UK, dunno if it's same in america) voice for Solid Snake sounded a hell of a lot like the person who did the voice for Piccalo (again, the UK version) who in turn sounds a LOT like the person who does the voice for Wolverine in X-Men Evolution

What? No mention of Thief? You taffers!

Anyhoo, a lot of the time it's not so much the voice acting that's the problem, its the script the actors are given. Just look at Unreal 2. Who the hell came up with the script in that game? It was so unbelievably childish and moronic. They should have taken all character interaction out of that game. Okay, I'm gonna have to stop myself going further into this...noone wants to hear me rant about Unreal2, I'm sure.

I liked the voice acting in Max Payne, myself. I especially liked the backwards talking flamingo!

Anyway, if you want the BEST voice acting ever, you gotta go for Tokimeki Check in, I've mentioned this game in here before, and then esuna called me a perv and made me cry. Cept not. Either way, the voice acting is absolutely amazing (and not just the orgsasms). Each one of the chicks(/me points to avatar) gets a voice, and they are all very well done, high quality sound-wise, etc.

This is one of my pet peeves, so excuse me for repeating it over and over, but you're all lucky. You get english voiceovers.

To illustrate the current state of German videogame voiceacting: Merkaba mentioned the horrible state of Unreal 2s dialogue. I'm currently <i>searching</i> for a patch allowing me to 'enjoy' exactely this dialogue because the German translation is, and I'm speaking as someone knowing the original voices and scripts, at least twice as bad.
Ever asked yourself why there are relatively few German Neverwinter Nights players? I'll give you a hint: Bavarian elves. Halflings dubbed with thick accent.
I could just not stand it and quit halfway through the otherwise solid game.

I could go on and on, but the fact remains: Any, <i>any</i> English voice acting is better than what I have to endure. Nowadays, I'm buying more British games than most of our members from the islands.

I'd have to agree, apart from the part where Juni tries to say 'buoy' <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

It's not a PC game, but Eternal Darkness for the GCN has some fantastic voice acting. Especially with some of the cheesy things they have to say ("THIS...CAN'T....BE.....HAPPENING!!"), it could have been <i>much</i> worse.

I have to go with System Shock 2 as well. Those are really some good actors.

I'm going to need to check Fallout; I heard that had nice voice acting... MacGuyver!

I didn't play it much, but I love the way the gods in Sacrifice bickered with each other. Starcraft was pretty good, especially compared to Warcraft III.

And yeah, NOLF and Thief was pretty good as well, (God, those Hammerite whistle tunes are so eerie...)
