<div class="IPBDescription">Was the gorgey meant to be so cute? :)</div> This is a question for anyone on the dev team who may know the answer.

The concept art for the gorge is well, quite disturbing really <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Now, everyone's pretty unanimous on the gorge being a cute, cuddly, fat and wobbly wombat type thing, which certainly doesn't match up with the concept art for him.

My question is this... is the way the gorge turned out in the hearts and minds of NS players everywhere un-intentional, or was a concious effort ever made to have him turn out the way he has and not be so close to the original concept art?

I know for sure I much prefer how the gorge has turned out than how I would have imagined him from the concept art... despite the concept art being very well done (gw Cory!).

I'm fairly sure everyone in the NS community much prefers invisioning the gorgey as a cute pudgie thing that is deceptively dangerous, rather than something that would snarl and hiss at you will the spikes on it's backs proped up in defence.

Anyways, just curious. If anyone who knows the answer perchances on this thread, I'd be very interested to know <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    It's all in the waddle. Everybody that I got to try NS has thought the same way about the gorge. It seems unintentional to me.     The gorges are cute as they are a sign of relief for a battle-damaged alien. A hopping gorge spamming healspray is often welcomed and usually gets a "I love you, man" over the voice comm when all you had left were 10 hit points and an acid spray. They also build Defense Chambers, in 1.0x, D chambers are goood. Gorges also build hives, hives give better upgrades, Gorge=gooood.

    As a marine, a gorge (outside of when they have 2 hives) is a welcome sight. Very few marines die to gorges these days (I only kill 2-3 before they get me now, meh), and knowing where the gorge is means knowing what the alien's strategy is. All in all, I think the gorge ended up being cute for pyschological reasons.

    the only time a gorge is "cute" is when its head is on my mantle peice

    back in the {CF} days (back with v1.02) we called him Wobbly because he was our team's gorge (i first started it).     It breaks my heart every time I see a gorge die. I have seriously considered replacing it with a more neutral model because I find myself hard to motivate to kill them when I am marine, I'm secretly rooting for the gorge all the time.

    We are very happy about how the gorge turned out. It was always intended that he would be a lover, not a fighter, and while we may not have originally thought he would turn out THAT cute, we were pleasantly surprised that he did. He's definately my favorite alien as far as looks and animation.

    Well the NS team ran into this one in full force: Here it comes.

    OMG MAEK TEH GORGY PLUHS TOY!!!!

    Fade with Blink ability = You buy it, it disappears, you keep on buying!!! "OMG"

    Lerk with Helium wings = Don't let it outside, it will get away

    Gorge with Build ability = Makes an O-Chamber in the front hall, be safe, and stylin'

    Skulk with wall climb = Scare the hell out of neighbours, friends. Great for parties!

    Onos with devour = Only the stomach is soft, so you get a nice warm place to sleep.

    (optional) Onos with milking ability, feed it milk, and pour it from spiky udders -- it's milk... Onos style!
