<div class="IPBDescription">What Causes This Error ?</div> A few weeks ago I was playing Unreal Tournament 2003 (love it!)
when suddenly my PC restarted itself and I was on the B.I.O.S screen being
told that my clock was not set ("Press F1 To Run Set-Up") and the following
error message was displayed.
"Your program caused a divide overflow error. If the problem
persists, contact your program vendor."
So after a format (I had to format anyway, huge problems!) I
was reinstalling all the vital drivers (Ethernet card, DirectX, ATI
Catalyst Drivers) and when I was putting my SoundBlaster drivers on
I got the same error right at the end of the installation process.
Everything seems to be running fine and i've just racked up a superb
hour on U2K3.
EDIT: Here's what I'm running.
1400 AMD ATHLON
Windows 98
640 Meg Of Ram (SDR)
Radeon 9000.
80 Gig Hard-Drive.
SoundBlaster Live 5.1!
Just thought I'd ask to prevent any future issues.

For some reason one of the programmers of your programs has a clock dependant calculation. or not :-p
If its your BIOS that's messing up, that has nothing to do with hard drives.
If you have an older computer, the battery inside may have died. (especially if you left your computer unplugged a long time, or if you have one of those power switches that really just cut the power to the circuit to turn things off).
Another possibility is the mobo is just broken...
If you keep getting BIOS errors, its time to invest in a new mobo I'm afraid. And since you're getting a new mobo, you may as well get a new CPU too. :P
