transparency and such
Yeah well, i wanna make some sort of a biodome, a bit like the entrance thing in hera... But when testing if i try to make a glass wall, it says there's a leak... I understand why, it's a func_wall so it's not a "border" of the word... I wanna know how i can make it into a border, or how i can make a totally invisible border around it. i can't find any tutorials on this

I'm making my first real map right now, it's like a docking station for spaceships, and guess what, it's infested with lil cute fattehs and skulks i want the "deck" to be some sort of biodome, in the middle of the level may be a bad idea or so, but that doesn't bother me, just answer my question, thank you very much

You're correct about the cause of your problem, brush based entities like func_walls aren't 'solid' as far as the compile tools are concerned, so it will cause leaks. If you want a transparent brush that will block leaks, (first make sure you have to latest version compilers, they're available from one of the sticked threads here) you can texture a brush with the texture "NULL". This will make it completely transparent visually but still physically there.

Keep in mind though, if you have a glass window looking out into void you'll have visual problems, aka the hall-of-mirrors effect. I think what you're really looking for is a skybox for your window to look into, but I haven't done any work with those.

Put a sky around it. Just be aware that you'll still be able to see brushes on the other side of the sky brush, so you may have to make a rather large skybox if you put the glass in the middle of the level.

wait, if i get this straight i have to place brushes around my complete level andgive them a sky texture? Isn't it gonna give me the error about huge rooms then? or did i misunderstand something..

You only need to put SKY brushes around your windows to seal them in, not around the whole map.
