Heres the first movie I've made, not really showing off skill, just wanted to see if I could actually make a movie. Its encoded in Divx 5.0.5 so you might wanna grab that before anything else... <a href='http://www.divx.com/divx' target='_blank'>Divx</a>

Or you can simply use the web linkage

I'm also trying to spread the goodness that is the music of The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets... picked the song mostly for the nifty ending.

Theres guides there on how to do it, but to list all the programs / codecs I had to get for this project:
AVI Joiner: Joins small clips of AVIs into one larger one
GeekPlay (optional): Easy management of HL demos
VideoMach: Used to take the BMP files of the converted HL demo and create an AVI
DIVX: If you view the movie you have it.. its just a video decoder / encoder
Virtual Dub: Used for final video compression as well as adding the music
On a side note, if you do get started on this, none of the guides list what FPS to use when using the 'startmovie <demoname> <fps>' command in Half-Life, but I used 65, which gave decent quality. Also when using Video Mach I used 30 FPS.
AND SHAME ON YOU LIKU FOR MUTING IT... at least watch the ending with the music, I timed the end of the movie to the guitar at the end.
*Edit*
Er.. ok I see what you sorta mean I'll make a quickie guide here.. probably edit it later and make it longer...
Step 1: Record demos in Half-Life
Go to console and use the following command:
record <demoname>
Usually I use stuff like italy_001.
Step 2: Watch the demos in Half-Life and see what clips that you want to keep.
Use the following command in console once you figure out what you want:
startmovie <demofilename> 65
This will start saving BMP files into your Half-Life directory.
A tip on this, keep your console pulled down until you get to the point where youre at your desired clip, then close it as this will skip recording the entire demo and get only what you want.
Step 3: Start up VideoMach and open the tons of BMP files that you just saved.
VideoMach has a very simple interface, you should be able to figure this part out.
Edit as you wish.
Step 4: Once you've edited the clip click the blue disk icon in VideoMach.
Click on output file Video Only.
Click the three dots on the save video part and browse around where you want your AVI saved (make sure you select save as AVI too)
Click the Video tab
I personally resized my video to 320x240, as that gives a decent viewing screen while allowing for a smaller file size.
Look around the video tab for options, find the frame rate box.
Unselect Automatic and Keep Original Duration.
Type in 30 as your FPS. (VERY IMPORTANT TO KEEP THIS THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Hit OK and click the blue triangle.
Once you're done with the AVI go ahead and delete the BMP files in the Half-Life directory.
Step 5: Keep repeating steps 1-4 until you have enough clips to create your video.
Open up AVI Joiner and open the AVI clips you've finished.
Drag them around in the order you want.
Save the now one large AVI file.
I'll write the rest about Virtual Dub and adding audio later, as its somewhat complicated. Or if you can make heads and tails of the Virutal Dub guide at HLMP its there, but I'll admit that that guide requires a little bit of knowledge of the workings of Virtual Dub.
Type this is console.
Do what you want.
Type this in console and exit.
Open this...
ETC?
Neither do I, but I still watched it.
Why even post then. I havn't watched it yet, it's downloading.
*edit*
Cools, the music wasn't <i>that</i> bad. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> It makes me wanna go play some CS...see ya.
*Edit*
And actually its a somewhat small file, as I've seen 2:00 videos which are 20 meg. This is 2:33 at 17 meg.
Edit: found it, I'm a loser. You can stone me now.
Edit numba 2: I watched it, nice video. Like the endin' too. I need to learn to pwn...
Hehe thankies, but like I said in the first post I wasnt really trying to show off skill (I SUCK AT CS), but just wanted to see if I could actually make a movie.
Ending definitely rocks, and there's some good ponage in there too. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

<a href='http://tuzakey.com/~roach/ns/roachems/roachems%5bAR%5d.avi' target='_blank'>http://tuzakey.com/~roach/ns/roachems/roac...ems%5bAR%5d.avi</a> 60megs. DivX

that movie completely rocks ! almost conviced me to go play CS. <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
I already tried to play it with some friends in a LAN but it was just boring in the end. Maybe one of the reason because I don't like CS that much is that I have a bad aim ):
Stop misinterpreting my post: I just said it almost convinced me to play CS, I didn't say I was disappointed by 'hackers' and that idiots play this game.
I, for one, don't like it because it's not realistic and I don't want to get into this discussion again.
