Movies About Superheroes

why mess with origins ?
Heya people. I've been noticing a bad trend in movies lately. Even though movies are being made about some of my favorite comic book characters. The movie makers feel the need to screw with the origins of these characters for some reason.

For example, I was just watching the hulk. And I couldn't believe the complex origin they made for him. It wasn't just gamma radiation anymore. I won't get into specifics for those of you that still want to be surprised. But rest assured that they took a perfectly unbelievable origin and made it 10x more unbelievable.

GRRRRRRR. Stupid movies. JUST LEAVE THE ORIGINS ALONE!

Next thing you know you're gonna see a movie about the flash and how he took too much ridalin as a child.

Yeah, the Hulk is kinda rippin it...

Logan/Wolverine rocked in X2 though, his origin is the coolest.

DareDevil wasn't that bad, neither was Spider-Man's.

Worst origin so far is xXx

I wish more movies would do like Tim Burton's BATMAN and assume you already know the hero's origin... I mean of course you can't do that with lesser known heros like Daredevil or Birdman, but everybody knows about Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent...

I really enjoyed the X-Men movies and Spider-Man and thought that Daredevil was okay too, but Hulk is just looking... stupid..

I think the origins are messed with to make them more accisble to those that need to condense 1000 odd comic books into 5 minutes to introduce a movie. Also, more often than not, the original origins aren't relevant anymore - witness Spideys nuke-hysteria, it sprang out of a lack of general knowledge, so they changed it to genetech - same thing for the new millenium.

The only good things about the new wave of comic adaptions are the X movies. Sorry, but speaking as somebody who just didn't grow up in that background, all other such flicks seem to take the comics word by word in exactely the wrong aspects, and have even worse timing in inventing new stuff (see Green Goblins costume...).

darnit, and WHEN will the two best Marvel characters (Gambit & Venom) feature in a film??

/me realises this may cause a debate all on it's own.....

The choice of villian. I'm no comic-crack, but even I know the Goblin is one of the cheesiest chars of the franchise.

The villians looks. That suit just looked like the kind of plastic toy I got from eerie aunts when I was ten.

The female lead. It might be surprising to the writers, but we're living in the 21st century. Women can do more than scream and look good in red nowadays.

The finale. No spoilers, though, so I won't comment any further.

Big parts of the dialogue.

I did nonetheless enjoy quite a bit of the movie (especially the first 30 minutes which screwed quite nicely with comic character clichés), but it had the potential for something infinitely better.

Gambit was given a small mention in X2.

The whole Venom, Carnage and Symbiotes storyline would make a great storyline.
