Congrats, but the UK well rocks much more.

I mean your govermental system was almost totaly cloned from our system, we spawned you.
Only main diffrence is that you beleive in work and earn on your own, we help each other hence the insainly high taxes. Thats why I want to move, lower taxes. Never know if you give me citizinship ill kill Bush for you.

Congratulations Wheeee. As someone who has visited many of the countries mentioned above (unlike most of the posters), I wouldn't trade being from here for anything. Not that they are bad countries, but because there are things about mine I really like; I don't understand why people need to tear down everyone else in order to make themselves feel better. More than one country can be good at the same time, a President is not a country, and considering most of you are young guys that have not yet *done* anything for your country, you need to stop acting like you deserve any credit for it.

/semi-rant over

Congrats again, Wheeee, get out there and vote, and say what you want, and play video games with blood in them, and excercise those constitutional rights.

Actually I wouldn't have anything against world being "one country". Think how fast technology(nature preserving too) would go forward with all the people working together and without wars and rivalry(though that's a good thing in some occasions). Not to mention we could stop famine. Of course, this would require someone semi-intelligent as the leader. Or preferably some sort of world senate.

Ontopic: Yep, I think we all like our country most so arguing about that is pretty foolish. Just as foolish is to brag that your country is "the best" etc. It just makes other people annoyed and mocks your own intelligence for saying something as stupid as that.

Congratulations, welcome to this great country.

And for those of you out there who thinks bush rules the country, your wrong.

President = executive branch = enforces the law
Supreme Court = Judicial branch = interprets the law
Congress = legislative branch = makes the law

More or less, the US is ruled by this system. It called the "checks and balance" system, it makes sure no person/group has all the power, unlike some other countries *cough*iraq*cough*.

Thereby, bush does not rule the country. He helps lead the country.

Welcome to the fold. As a US Citizen, you can now:
-Claim moral and social superiority over other cultures.
-Ignore history which reflects poorly on your country.
-Insult other nationalities. (Except UK and Aus, they're 'good guys' too!)
-Take friendly jabs at Canada, eh?
-Hate France.
-Fight with Nem and take Monse's side on everything. You don't even need to know what its about!

:-) I know I make full use of these privleges.

I was at Disney's 'Hall of Presidents' and despite its slightly revised US history, it was pretty good and really made me proud to be an American with the ideas presented in the Country's values. Life, Liberty, Equality. While we certainly haven't always valued or achieved these ideals (Slavery, Civil Rights, South America, etc), we still hold them and (should) strive to spread them amongst the world.

Congrats Wheee. I'm glad you've got what you wanted. I'm sure that everyone is justifiably proud of their own nation. GG all. Please don't let this descend into a "my county pwnz j00!" thread - its what got the discussion forum closed.

/me looks wiSUYFl.

Anyway, (prepares anti-MonsE asbestos pance) I think its a bit short sighted to say that because someone hasn't fought under the flag of their nation, they haven't done anything for it. I'm sure that they all pay taxes to service the infrastructure, vote to continue democracy and refrain from causing international incidents.

Finally, I actually laughed out loud at the person that gave Heineken as the antithesis of bland beer. HAHAHAHA. Sorry. For more info on great beers (I write reviews for this site) go to www.bottledbeer.co.uk - ratings and reviews of beers from around the globe. I got my hands on some San-Francisco anchor steam beer a while back, and was mightily impressed, so there is life after Bud, people.

Ehhh, where did i say anything about fighting? My point was that most of them have not really done anything at all. No taxes, haven't voted, haven't spent years helping companies to succeed (and thusly employ, provide services, and raise quality of life), etc.. I guess you just assumed that a former Marine would automatically qualify that service as the only kind there is?

My point was most are kids, and as of yet, have only taken and never given. Not that they don't want to, just that they have no capacity to yet. Soon that will change. But that's still besides the point.

I'm not as subtle as people always seem to give me credit for. There is no meaning to read in like your school theme assignments - I'm pretty litteral. I meant what I said.

Yep being an American citizen I completely agree with MonsE.

Although I'm exception to his argument as my mere presence in the world increases the quality of life of all those around me tremendously and most would consider it an honor to service me in anyway I could see fit. Most have gratefully accepted that I can do no wrong and are humbled at the chance of a mere encounter with me as it would grant meaning to their lives.

well as MonsE said, carry on.

I think it's kinda funny how some people who live in the US and complain about this or that and haven't visited another country that doesn't have the same rights (Canada is not a country, it's an annexed state hehehe) as the US. I especially laugh at those who complain about how horribly bad it is when they don't put in their own say, via the big 3vil government. Most of the people I've talked to regarding this that have this viewpoint have never voted or sent a letter to their congressman/woman. They say "It's futile" or "so and so tried it and didn't get a response so I won't try it".

You don't even realize you have the right to say it because you take it all for granted. You can tell the president to his face to shove the american flag up his rear or walk down the street wearing purple hotpants and a balloon animal for a shirt and big goofy glasses. Albeit the above examples might get you beat up by some random scumbag who believes as you do but then you have the ability to sue them in court and the police will back you up along with whoever else saw what went on. That's right, you can protect yourself in a court of law, because we uphold our rights as they apply equally to everyone. Heck, even in jail if you so find yourself there you get fed 3 meals a day and have time for entertainment, TV and edjumacation.

The fact that a whole lot of people died to give you these rights and you aren't grateful doesn't make a lot of people happy, including myself considering I'm currently serving in the big bad country o' the USA. If you don't like our freedoms and wish to continue telling everyone how horrible it is, might I consider living elsewhere? Not for a taste of the other side or anything like that like some posters are saying, I just want you to leave and never come back if you hate it so much.

What language are you speaking btw? English? German? Russian? Japanese? E-freakin-gyptian? That's right, they're all allowed to be spoken used here. Not that speaking them means everyone will understand you but we horrible americans still have a government that goes out of its way to help those who don't speak English understand and live and work in our country. Not many others I can say that for. And gosh darn, don't you just HATE it when we have to save everyone's a**? Otherwise, you WOULD be speaking German right now or maybe Japanese. Or maybe a strong Old English. Yeah, that's right. We fought for our piece of the world and our rights, unlike many others who just got them for free, damn straight we have a right to be a bit cocky. Oh, and to those that whine about the US being the world's police? We don't interfere unless the country we're intervening with has proven that they can't police themself properly. Ala Iraq and many others (my memory for historical accuracy is extrodinarily poor, I'm sure MonsE could back me up with more examples).

And to ANYONE who bashes another country whether it be "Teh US is the sux!" or "the UK is smelly" is WRONG. Each country has it's own benefits and none is "better" in the elitist sense. We're all equal and should be treated as thus with respect for each other's beliefs and values. Except for the French Government and the old Iraqi Regime, you can make fun of them all you want
