Woooeeee
Well, this is fun. I've had all four of my wisdom teeth taken out, been turned into the much-famed chipmunk from swelling, and am to this minute continuing to bleed out my entire face (or so it seems).
So I turn to you my fellow forum monkeys when I am in peril: how the f*^$ can I get these cheeks to stop bleeding sooner?
I've been wearing, and continue to wear, gauze for the last 7 hours. Painkillers taken, replacing it every hour, blah blah blah. But the bleeding still hasn't stopped, which I understand is a litle strange for how LONG its been. So any of you who have experienced know what and what not to do?
For example, if touching the inside of my mouth is a no-no, someone say so. I feel that I do it quite a bit when replacing gauze, and I'm not sure if it's slowing the process or if I'm just paranoid.

Basically I took a day and a half off, and by that time, the bleeding was done and the swelling had changed to an ugly yellow color on my face.
Leave it alone. Gauze or cotton wool or whatever, but don't probe it. Put it this way, you're not going to decrease your recovery time by a day every time you touch the wounds, but it's not a good idea to disturb them. Especially if you fiddle too much with the sutures.
Basically, just be patient. Get used to the taste of blood (after a while you don't notice). Swallowing your own blood won't kill you.
Thanks for the tips guys.
I experienced minor bleeding for several days, if I remember correctly. It wasn't extreme, but it was evident on the gauze. The swelling went down after a day or two.
Just make sure he got everything. My dentist missed my fifth wisdom tooth.
Any thing that takes you mind off it and not do any thing with it

Yeah, I forgot about that. I was on soup for like two weeks
I have an insanely low pain tolerence, so I had to take more pain pills than what i really was supposed to just to keep the pain at a bearable level.
Between the pain and the pill effects, I was too messed up in the head to even get out of a chair.. I was off work for like a week, I was just completely messed up...
But as for solutions to your bleeding problem... time
2. Icecream. The colder the better. It reduces the bleeding and the swollenness. Again, I talk from experience. I am the knocked-out-teeth-master. Heed my words or feel the dental pain.
But the one on the right side of my mouth wounldnt budge. i only had the novacaine I was perfectly awake and alert as to what was going on.
i coudlt feel any pain but i was sitting the chair listening to my music (techno of course) with my head phones.
Sudenly the orthodontist gives a sideways glance to his aids then looks at me, I coudlnt hear b/c of my music. But she handed him this evil looking plier like divice. Iw as like "oh *shat"
He had me in a head lock trying to get that stupid tooth out. Hes a really good dr. and so he was trying to get them out without hurting me/ mouth region. But yea it was kind of funny.
I was like. Hmmm im in a head lock with this guy shoving this huge metal tool in my mouth. This must look really funny.
mostly just avoid straws, but i had a hard time avoiding cancer sticks for the four to five day recovery time.
