Funny that you would call it 2D. As I see it the perspective is identical to all those FPS that are commonly called 3D. I believe "untextured" would be more fitting.

Yes, I know it was called "Wolfenstein 3d"; that's not the point - it had width and depth but no height.
Now a 2d fps with only width and height... that would be interesting. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> It did have height.
Just becuase you couldnt jump or go up stairs doesnt mean its not 3D. Yes the characters were 2D comic book style like doom.
There was a castle wolfenstein as well, follwed by wolfenstein 3D follwed by RTCW.
If we re-programed HL to disable jumping, made a long tunnel, its still 3D like Wolfenstein 3D.
The MAPPING was 2D. There was no Y-axis to work with. The game was just as 3D as any other game (i.e. drawn on a flat screen), but the engine didn't work with 3 dimensions, only 2. And if we reprogrammed hl to disable jumping, made a long tunnel AND unbound the mouse's Y-axis (since you couldn't aim up or down in Wolfenstein), it STILL wouldn't be like Wolfenstein, as the engine still would think in 3 dimensions, while Wolfenstein only thinks in 2.
