<div class="IPBDescription">No really!</div> According to their publisher, at least:

<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->SAVAGE: The Battle for Newerth
Choose to be a commander and you will play an in-depth RTS managing the stronghold, or choose to be a warrior and you will play an intense game of first person combat. <b>With the creation of a new game play genre, RTSS (Real Time Strategy Shooter), </b>Savage expertly redefines the first-person shooter and real-time strategy genres by combining elements of both into one cohesive experience. As the commander in RTS mode, you will tackle resource management, develop a robust tech tree, plan your assault and lead real human players into battle. As a warrior in action mode, you will master many unique weapons, powerful units, and siege vehicles to fight a fast paced battle.

Set in a unique fantasy world eons from now where Humans and Beasts battle violently for their very existence. Savage transports PC gamers to the next level in multi-player gaming. Choose to fight on the side of HUMANITY, armed with science and technology, or take the side of the BEAST HORDE, masters of nature and magic. Each race has its own style of battle, its own leader, and its own way to victory. Which side are you on?

Feel free to <a href='mailto:info@s2games.com'>mail them</a> and ask them how they can justify that claim. After all, Battlezone 1 and 2, Tribes, Soldner, Allegiance, and of course Natural Selection, are all games combining RTS and FPS. Ask nicely of course <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> .

And don't post nonsense on their forums. The Savage developers and fans will agree that the publisher's claim is retarded, and all you will do it irritate people. But there's no harm in irritating marketing drones. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

You could also point them the source of their marketing idea - 'Real-Time Strategy Shooter'. That phrase was officially coined by Fragmaster, from planethalflife.com (<a href='http://www.planethalflife.com/news/search.asp?function=search&advanced=1&search=real-time+strategy+shooter+&startmonth=6&startday=8&startyear=1996&endmonth=12&endday=31&endyear=2002&order=rankdesc&recordcount=10' target='_blank'>see for yourself; scroll about 2/3rds down</a>).

edit: I doubt there's any need to go after them, as reviewers typically have a field day with comments like this when they know of other titles that the marketting dumbarses at this company never heard of. I've already seen a few such comments in google searches.

I'm not too sure about Savage. I like NS but I'm not sure I'll love Savage

They'll no doubt invoke "plausable deniability"

Just an ignorant publisher. The Savage fans seem to be well aware of NS, judging by some posts I read on their forum.

We're all just ripping them off the long way around, as Steven Wright would say.

sorry, had to do that one.

remember this is how it works:

dev team: Hey we got a cool idea were going to integrate FPS and RTS into one
    sales: Tell us more
    dev team explains basic ideas
sales: well we have never heard of anything like this (note they don't play video games) time to explain to every one else that we have discovered a great new find.

sales is stupid (look at the mac switch adds, proof that owning a mac makes you stupid and fugly)

LOLOLOLOL soooo funny man, did you ever see the mac "switch" commercial with the guy who says at the end :

"Theres nothing I can do with my PC that I cant do with my mac!"

then he says what he does for a living, and I guess mac thought it would be cool to have someone who "knew" stuff about PCs but it turned out to be soo damn lmae

"I'm Jack Smitch, and I'm a windows LAN administrator."

LOLOLOLOL "nothing I can do with my PC that I cant do with my mac"
HEHEH except his fargen JOB!! I died laughing when I saw it

well that is of course a tricky answer.

There is nothing he can't do on a mac that he actually can do on a PC, but what tells him he actually knows how to do anything on a PC? Except if I got tricked (objective of tricky stuff) then that's about right
