someone i know thinks that the commander should just jump out of the command chair and do stuff like a normal marine, which is wrong.
but he just says that he is right about it, but just wanted for me to post in this forum to prove that he is right (which he is not)
a commander should always stay in the chair, right?
never leaving the chair unless the whole base is covered with fades. <!--emo&::fade::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif'><!--endemo-->
im making a swedish clan, and becouse im right he will make a own clan with his rules, but he will not be the commander.

Etc.
There are many times having a comm get out and fend off an attack gave us enough time to get back to base... he fights, dies, respawns and resumes in the chair..
The tactics today seem to be build mines by doorways and get as many marines out of the base, its getting rarer and rarer to see a marine in base defending....
*EDIT* Thought I would also mention the same principle holds true for aliens... Spawn campers happen generally for the same reason */EDIT*
So once one skulk has suicided a path through the mines, the entire base is easy bait unless... the comm hops out and defends..
I've been that one skulk on many occasions and generally get quite a bit of the base chomped before anyone gets back (PG, OBS, ARmoury and perhaps even the arms/Proto lab)
When this tactic is usually used is when the marines are all out capturing an objective (locking down a hive etc), they see the phase and think they can get back to base whenever they want (esp if they have 3 phases, and you eat one, they don't see the lights go out on it)
so to conclude, your friend has a valid point...
my 2 cents,
