Help Me Please!

<div class="IPBDescription">I've run into a wall.</div> Ok, I've been working on a re-skin of the Starcraft Marine and so far it's looking real cool. It's got a real dirty metallic look to it, and it has its battle-scars on it, but I can't make it into a skin texture to use! The primary color of it is blue and it only saves as a bmp in 24 bit mode. Whenever I try to import it into HLMV it says there was an error in loading it. I need to know how to get around this and use color in the texture! Thank you.

If you're using photoshop, make the skin as usual in RGB mode, then when it's done, go to image>mode>indexed colour, make sure its set to 256 colours, 8 bit.

Now go to "Save a copy" and it should let you save it as a bitmap.

Yes, I tried that but the wall I ran into there was that I couldn't save it as a BMP. Any Ideas how to get around it?

Hmm, that's odd, it should let you save it as a .BMP, as long as you go to "Save a copy".

I just tried it on mine, and it lets me do it fine, but I have an ancient Photoshop ( 5.5 I think ) so it may have changed since then.

Sorry, I'm out of ideas for this one.

Edit: What software are you using?

Ah thank you. I know why I couldn't save as a BMP. Because there was already a BMP with that name on the desktop where I save it to. Thanks. Yeah I use 5.5 too.
