The usual term of a marine WoL is actually just a wall of CommandChairs, my pics are set up, and won't ever be seen in a real game that doesn't have sv_cheats on. Close-up so you can see whats under those CCs: EDIT: or...not... nothing important anyway, heh.
anyway the only point in using WoLs are to delay the marines even longer than usual,because well you know what happens when they are practically rushing towards your hive nonstop
but I like mazes way more,because big WoLs are just a chunk of alien slime to GLs....
Actually, "walls of lame" were only usefull when they were just that. Now that they are not, and the average olympic marine hurdler can just leap over them, they arn't a real threat.
And to jetpacks, its like clear sailing ahead.
WoL are a redicously outdated tactic, dont stop anything but your own teammates, and are a waste of space. Spread out the OC's and DC's and THEN you have a hive defense. I can build them so jetpackers won't last 5 seconds in POWERSILO.
If the marines are under constant fire, most of the fire cannot be dodged, and its only a matter of seconds before they're slaughtered.
Flayras vision of defeating WoL was accomplished in 1.04, its just no one realizes it.
This was done late night on the Chimayhem server. Noone else but i | Silver and me were on and so I took every res node in cage and we messed around some with a phase gate maze (didn't get a pic but think of around 80 phase gates around the map places randomly.) and then we did this. The res amount was due to the fact I was lagging so hard when I hit comm mode that dropping a line of turrets literally took about 3 minutes..and 10 res a tick....that adds up
Then I dropped some hidden seige stuff around each hive and while acting like I was playing in the PG thing got seiges built beside each hive all stealty like.
Finally the server went down when it couldn't take someone else joining =P
