I never really played AHL to say if it was good or not. The level's looked REALLY repetative though. Desert Crisis is a good idea, but horrendous exicution. The Specialists wasn't to bad, played on the only server, which was laggy, gave up on it. Existence is pretty good for a MOD with 2 Levels.
Existence was still good to play when it only had _one_ map. Its nice to look at due to excelent player modelling and some great weapon modelling and the voice acting is good too..accept for the civvies..who all sound like a prepubescant nasaly compressed child of hellspawn.
The only problem with it is that the special skills that they inculded were way too expensive for what they did (800 credits to be able to jump really far/really high 3 times or run fast for 5 seconds...WTH) so they never got used very much in online play, which was a shame.
So as Meestah headcrab said we all ahve opinions and IMHO Existence > Specialists > Dessert Crisis but AHL does in fact > all of them ;p

I like how it sounds - I've seen it previewed in magazines which also contain the whole mod on their DVD discs, but I still have never tried it out. I heard Te Specialists contains slomo bullet-time too. Can anyone confirm this? If so how does it work?
I see. Just that Max Payne had no multiplayer and on its forums we discussed how on earth they could implement his bullet time abilities. That area thing did come up, but since Payne inherently possesses BT then he would need no power-up. So we couldn't figure out how to make it work. Power-ups sound good

Both AHL and The Specialists are very excellent deathmatch mods. While they are very similar in concept and theme (action moive fun!), they differ greatly in execution and style. I personally prefer TS, but that's just my opinion.
Desert Crisis is. . . different. I admit that I haven't tried the new version, but considering how much I hated the previous version, I don't think I will. It has some nice modeling and artwork though, as well as some interesting concepts.
Existence was a good idea that got pwned by terrible balancing in the maps and weapons, as well as a lack of frequent updates (*cough*Firearms*cough*) and some weird bugs. I think it may have become a good game, but it hasn't, and I don't think it will. If you want a fun Matrix experience, just go see the movies again - or do this:
1)Watch DVD of original 2)Watch Reloaded in theaters 3)Get soundtrack 4)Play ts_lobby in The Specialists with at least eight players, while listening to Matrix soundtrack, with slowmatch on.
This was seriously the coolest gaming experience I ever had. After a while you really do feel like you're Neo or something. Once I was done, I had an adrenaline rush that lasted for a full day and a half (as in, I could not sleep I was so hyper). Lastly, as a side note, I noticed my score went up by about 25% in TS while playing the Matrix soundtrack. Whoa.

In it's first releases, it was very unbalanced, therefore lost alot of attention, and got really unpopular.
Try "The Specialists", it roxors.
that's out.
everyone is entileled to their own opinion, And we mustn't forget Desert Crisis..

Edit - Whoops, re-read post. I thought you meant that you're server was really slow, as in "not fun." My mistake. Give the bots a try anyway, though.
