1.1 Possibly Too 'good'?

but, lemme just briefly describe something that happened with a great mod called 'FireArms'
Firearms 2.5 was great. There were problems - Aug gun was overly powerful, pistols and lmg's were useless, and people spammed like it was a meatshop. but, 2.6 (hail mary) was going to solve it all. it added recoil, stamina, prone-time, removed 2 rifle whoring, removed famas and nelli whoring, it killed at least 10 major clans in europe, and countless in america.
it was TOO different. some people said it was better, others said it was worse... at the time the playtesters thought it was brilliant.. they were slowly introduced to the new aspects of it.
I can't help but think that 1.1 mite turn out the same.
could it not be such a massive change from 1.04 that many good players and clans will leave?
2 hive lockdown, perhaps the most used tactic in the game, is no longer much of a priority. aliens can change to any thing they want, at any time....
it sounds like a completely different game!

am quite worried about what the hell i gonna do commanding a 1.1 game... instinct always tells me to lock down hives :o

No, you're right, a two-hive lockdown hinders the aliens, it just isn't the game ender it was before anymore. Aww. Poor 'rines, have to come up with something new now.
But from what ive heard the upgrade chambers are still one set a hive? So a onos with only movement chambers say will be easier than the onos just now with the 3 sets of upgrades.
Yes... nothing as boring as playing the same old game mechanics for years. And what is wrong with FA 2.7? Geez, some people just like to complain about everything. I dont know.... I have to admit, i was a bit worried about all the changes that (seem) to have been made to 1.1. I used to love DOD, but with this new patch, i simply can't play it. Quite frankly, it disgusts me. It's done the same as CS: It had gone retail, therefore it had to made easily playable to the mass market (n00bs). But then again, I (and non of us, only vets and PTs) have not played 1.1, so tbh, we're not in any position to criticise the changes. But please, Flayra, for the love of god, if this game goes retail, KEEP IT AS IT IS NOW!

Yeah thats true, why did both the HL mods that went retail become so "user friendly"?
Most multiplayer online games require skill to play, for CS it was removed almost completely when it became retail... shame was good in the beta stages.

Because:
Easier = More people buying it = happy producers = more money for gooseman (and his team)
CS is a once-pay-game (dunno if that's the right term, but omg copyright it now!!111), so they dont particuarly care if you buy it, play it once then never again, they just want you to buy it. Is all really

What are you guys talking about CS and DOD going retail and becoming more using friendly, they just become more like real games, personaly I really hated it when a sniper couldn't move in DOD 3.1b cause otherwise he would have to wait for the fade in scope again. Mods evolve, just cause you think a game is easier to play doesn't stop it being worth playing. People seem to think the second a mod goes retail its of no use playing. Well I guess I will never understand people. Oh and if anyone comments about the DOD 1.0 crosshair I would say to them that you have to learn to use it, its great for timing purposes cause it actually shows when ur accuracy is at, use the dot in the center to aim, then when all the lines hit it after u've been running is the time to fire.
3. I think aslong as NS sticks to its core roots it will do fine.
dod was never that verry hard to learn... i don't get how it is suddenly easy with the 1.0 release
but as for natural selection... don't worry the 1.1 as i understand will help balance things... and if flayra is controling the creation of 1.1 then it will all be fine... he will surely open up new aspects of strategies and gameplay never before seen in a first person game... 1.0x is good but > 1.1x will only become more intelligent and more balanced... lets just wait to see how well stragegie can be incorperated into this game... if there is a vision for this game, it will only get better as the team reaches thier goal.
There's a very simple reason why beta players tend to dislike retail version of their favorite game.
Since beta players are playing with the beta version of the game, the game is unfinished and loaded with imbalances, bugs and issues. The beta player, to be competitive, learns to exploit those imbalances, bugs and issues, and through those 'skills' can own other players.
But once the game becomes retails, all those imbalances, bugs and issues are mostly cleared out of the game, hence the most beta players no longer have their 'skills', thus they become 'n00bs' and get owned by the newbies and vets that have real twitch/tactical skills. Then, what does the old n00bs think?
Old n00b: 'In the old versions I was owning. *pause* In the new version I get OWNED! *long pause* THE NEW VERSION SUCKS!!!'

No FA died because the community was too diverse.
Everyone wanted something, and as soon as FA specilized itself, it completly threw those players out of the game.
Big deal. I like FA much better now than I did before, and I am glad it changed.
I can guarentee that people are gonna come and whine in these forums about how much NS v1.1 has destroyed the game, but that's life and all I can hope is that they are banned for being senseless idoits.
OH and Kalleth, from what I understand you aren't too popular amounst the FA team. I do belive you are one of those who fit the above discription.

FA died for alot of reasons. The game changed but the community didnt. Not to mention most veterans werent too happy waiting a year for an update that had just as many imbalances as the previous RC. 60% of the clans that played 2.5 arent playing today. You remember as well as i do how many great players and clans left when 2.6 came out.
