I may not be some "elite" killer, But I know this game pritty well!
I may not know how to be a good commander, but on the other side, I know how to be a GREAT GORGE.

<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'><b>HOW TO PLAY AS A GORGE</b></span>

<u>INTRO</u>
Being a Gorge is a big job, as big as being commander, the only difference is, you have alot more freedom then the commander and you don't need to rely on anyone to get the buling made or repaired, because you can do it your self!
First thing you need to know is How many people are on your team!
Next thing how many of them are already Groges.
A team with 6 or less needs 1 Gorge
A team with 10 or less can get away with 2 Gorges
A team with 15 or more can handle 3
There is rarely ever a need for more than 3 Groges, but if you see a potential to block off a path or cap a Resorce nozzle and the other gorges are no where to be found, ANNOUNCE that you are going GORGE for that reason only and then will change back to a Skluk of a Lerk.
Your team won't have a problem with seeing a 4th Gorge if they know that you are only doing it to bring in the RES.

<u>RESORCES</u>
Just as it is important for the Commander to have RES TOWERS, its important that you as a Gorge get them also and make sure that you can hold them. Res towers play a much larger importance to the Kharaa then they do to the humans, because they affect everyone on the team, not just the commander.
If you don't have Res Towers your never going to be able to keep up a fight with the humans. Res allow you as a Skulk to attack repeatedly with his thrust attack, allow your Lerks to fly more, allow your Structures to be repaired faster by Defence Chambers. Res Towers are the most important thing a Gorge can Build! Without them, you will never be able to build a 2nd hive.
When you start off and you let everyone know that your going to become a Gorge, the first thing you want to do is Cap any and all the Res nozzles around your hive. DON'T start going off by your self and attacking the humans, your not built for that! After you have capped a few Res nozzles (at least 2 more) the Res will start flowing in. Now its time to advance a bit further and find some more. But make sure you have left protection around your other chambers and the hive, don't want that lucky lone human to get the drop on your new finished hard work.

<u>DEFENCE</u>
What good if having every Res Nozzle capped if the humans just wipe them out and smoke your hive. You need to set up Protection! Protecting the hive is a simple as making sure that every path to it is blocked off! If the humans can't get a stright path to the hive, they wont be able to destroy it before renforcesments arive.
I like to set up Perimeters, there are 3 types
-<span style='color:red'>INNER</span>
-<span style='color:yellow'>PERIMETER</span>
-<span style='color:green'>OUTER</span>

<span style='color:red'>INNER</span>
These are the least numerous but the most VITAL. If the enemy is at your inner defence line, that means they are a just a step away from your HIVE.
These should be set up a few right near the hive, but most at the entrences to the Hive Chamber. The goal of these are to make sure that if anyone passes your other 2 defence lines, they wont get any further.
Set them up with a single row of Offence chambers and a single row of defence chambers. make sure you have @ least 2 defence chambers right near your Hive, this will allow any small arms fire (LMG, Pistols) to be repaired faster than it can do damage, also, they will heal eachother.

<span style='color:yellow'>PERIMETER</span>
These are here to protect your resorces not so much the Hive.
These ones should be set up out side your newly aquired Res towers, the point of these are to keep the humans from getting any closer to your main Hive and keep the Res towers that you need, Safe! Once the enemy gets to this line, you need to make sure they can't get any further, so these defences need to be Stronger than the inner ones by at least double.
Make sure that the number of offence towers you build has double the number of defence towers, that way, no matter how hard they try, they will never be able to destroy your Perimeter defences with low end guns, also it stops them cold in there tracks. A Rule of Thumb is always make sure to have all the possible ambush areas covered, so the commander can't set up Siege cannons to smoke your new defence line.

<span style='color:green'>OUTTER</span>
These are the most important and should be to strongest. If they can't get past these without alot of work, you will be more than safe! The Outter defence line is ment to keep the humans from getting near your resorce towers and to keep them from expanding into your territory! You need to make sure that you set these up in areas that the humans can't snipe them out, they should be thickly built with them 2 rows of offence piled 2 or 3 high, the more you can place the better! The defence chambers should number the amount of offence chambers and then some, since you will have alot of offence chambers, the number of defence chambers will also be high! These should act as your striking point, your team will gather at these lines to attack the next area and then retreat here to regain health.
If the enemy can get through these lines, you had better have FADES!

Remember, for each HIVE you build, repeat the Defence lines again.

<u>OTHER CHAMBERS</u>
The other chambers, such as sensory and movement, might not seem as important as getting that 3rd Hive, but without them you will find that your team will quickly be out classed by the new more powerful humans.
It's important to remeber when building these that "3 is Key" anything less you are just wasting your teams RES. When you make these kinds of chambers it allows you team to evolve their current form, to become more powerful and better fighters. Along with your Perimeter Defence system a group of fades can win the game in no time. These chambers have added advantages and will have even more in Version 1.1.
just remember to keep them close to a hive, they have no offencive power and can be cut down rather quickly.
All you need to remeber is "3 is KEY!".

<u>HEALING AND WEBBING</u>
You have some awsome powers as a Gorge, one of which is the VERY USEFUL ability to set up WEBS. A web is always best used in a place where it will do the most damage, down the hall from you defences. When a person is "Webbed" they can't fire, they can only move at a snails pace and they can't do anything about it, till the web wears off! If you find that an Outer Defence is getting slammed again and again, try webbing the hallway, so that the attackers can't advance so fast.
DON'T PLAY SPIDERMAN, that is, putting webs up everywhere! This not only does nothing but make the halls have a nice Christmas feeling, but it uses up the amount of webbs your team is allowed. Thats right, its FINITE, after so many you can't make more till some are destroyed!
The best place to lay web is along the floor, don't forget a welder can burn them off, but if he doesn't notice the webb, he won't be trying to burn it off!
Don't make a wall of Web, 3 strands are more than enough to stop anyone in there tracks, just cause you put more web, doesn't mean it works better, it just becomes more noticeable!
Healing is very helpful to your other teamates early one, you can replenish their life so they don't have to go looking for a defence chamber to heal up.
Also you can use it as a offencive attack, it doesn't work too strong, so its best to save it to heal.

<u>CONCLUSION</u>
Well I hope that this has helped you understand the role a GORGE plays in Natural Selection! Never forget to learn from your mistakes and play smart. Nothing is more anoying then a Gorge who goes it alone and doesn't try to help the HIVEMIND, use your team mates to protect you and help you build. The more Gorges you have building something, the faster it goes up!
Practise being a Gorge, you may find you don't like having a role as a builder or you might find out that your have the right mindset to become a great defencive player!

I mostly agree, but there are a few things I'll have to correct.

    1. Res Towers won't allow your skulks to attack faster or allow Lerks to flap their wings more often. You're confusing the blue bar (which shows your personal resources, which are in turn increased by RTs) with the yellow bar (commonly called stamina, this is the one that goes down when you attack or healspry etc.). But Res Towers are important, yes. Just remember that you'll need that extra hive up quite soon.

    2. Defence (Offense Chambers and Defense Chambers) is useful, but can cost you a ton of resources. 80 res, enough to buy you a hive, will only get you 5 chambers with a bit left over, enough for a single defence line. Until you're getting res at a good rate and the second hive is building, better concentrate on hives and RTs (with the odd DC to keep the carapace-demanding skulks happy).

(not a correction this one, more an emphasis)
    3. Healspray. Just do it. The skulks will love you. I will love you. The whole world will love you. PLEASE do it. Nothing is more frustrating than jumping up and down in front of a gorge who just looks stupidly at you. So do it. It works well as a weapon too, as it is much harder to dodge than the gorge's spit, just remeber it has more range than it seems. Use it on structures too.

Gorges snort, burp and fart alot as well.

    As for battlegorging, hehehe, ask BCK-Robin, he's seen me <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'm probably the most suicidal gorge ever, but I get away with it because of my trusty redemption and/or celerity ^_^

"wow, did you see that fatteh run?"

I for one would love a battlegorge guide. I'm good at setting up forward chambers for strikes on marine installations, but if they notice me before the first one or two OCs go up I'm usually toast (if the hive doesn't pull me back first <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> ). So yah, a lickle guide-thing on battlegorging would be great.

    Guide to battlegorging:

    1. Get a sense of humor
    2. Forget it if you are afraid to die
    3. Don't do it when an angry admin is on your team, and he gets funky because you mess up the game for the alien team in his opinion ^_^

    4. don't do it alone, you WILL die, instead:
    5. do it when skulks are rushing, a fade is firing, i.e. when THE RINES are distracted!!! (and the turrets <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->)
    6. get enough ress to drop 3/4 oc's and 2 dc's (or less, hey, it's up to you really)
    7. I wouldn't drop them all at once, build them a bit first, so they can take some damage.

This is the guide to Aggresive suicidal Gorging <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

In general, just build usefull dc's in strategical places. You'll only learn by playing alot, and by other ppl yelling "YOU DUMB **** WHY THE HELL DID YOU BUILD THAT THERE BUILD IT HERE SO IT HEALS US OVER 50% OF THE **** MAP YOU NOOB!!!" at you alot of times <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    good luck <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Cheers

I once played a game in the NS Nancy where we got 2 hives up. We immediately rushed the Marine base after destroying their poorly defended relocation to subspace. Our 2 gorges immediately set up loads of DCs and a few OCs in Airlock Exchange (just outside of original marine base) and we skulks, lerks & one fade ruined everything inside the frontiersmen base. Man I had so much fun with that!
