<div class="IPBDescription">Bruce Almighty. Check out this Trailer</div> Being the huge fan of comedy films I am, I HAD to
give this a mention here.

<a href='http://www.brucealmighty.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.brucealmighty.com/</a>
(2 Official Trailers, try em both for slightly different content)

Plot Summary: "Bruce Almighty" stars Jim Carrey as Bruce Nolan, a "human interest" television reporter in Buffalo, New York who is discontented with almost everything in life, despite his popularity and love of his girlfriend Grace (Aniston). At the end of the worst day in his life, Bruce angrily ridicules and rages against God- and God responds. He appears in human form (Freeman) and, endowing Bruce with all His divine powers, challenges Bruce to take on the big job and see if he can do it any better.

Its' already out in the US... got two stars... of course, so did the Matrix Reloaded, so don't give too much credit to critics.. they also said Titanic was GOOD.. oh my god they need younger reviewers.

OMG - God is a black man! Look everyone, Hollywood isn't racist!

Bah, I've almost never agreed with what the critics say. In most cases they're those stupid "high-life" people who like artsy fartsy flicks. In general, movies deserve a star more than what they get from a critic.

But yes, that movie looks great, going to see it this weekend probably.

Who here liked The Cable Guy while on the topic of Jim Carrey?
  • SirusSirus Join Date: 2002-11-13 Member: 8466Members, NS1 Playtester, Constellation
    Umm...

That movie was awesome and absolutely hilarious.

And it really wasn't sacrilegious. It was more about what if a man had the power to do whatever he wanted, would he succeed ? Or fail ?

While I'm sure the movie is funny, I think its quite sad that this movie made more money than Matrix: Reloaded did this week (just this week, not counting last week). Bleh. If I had a choice between seeing this and Reloaded a 3rd time, I'd probably pick Reloaded. :P

Ebert & Roper are the best, although if they didn't give TM:R two thumbs up they have lost all credibility. I guess I'll see this when it comes to my town in about 6 or 7 years... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

The Cable Guy was a decent film, nothing special
but quite abit of it did make me laugh. Maybe its just
    my great sense of humour <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I haven't yet seen a release date for Bruce Almighty

This movie didn't make more money than reloaded, reloaded made 139 million the first weekend beating spiderman for all time record. Don't you keep up with the news? : P

These numbers for opening weekends perplex me. I know that the movies aren't getting any BETTER(it's the matrix here folks, blegh), so does that mean that the movie going populace is getting dumber or just richer?

Helps to read my post rather than just skim it.

I didn't say it made more money than Reloaded overall, I said it made more THIS WEEKEND. As in, Reloaded has been out a week, and this movie had its premiere Friday or something like that. For just THIS WEEKEND, the movie knocked Reloaded to #2...

you guys DO know there's a secret message in the film, right? basically the guy in the film has a habit of never getting any breaks. notice, Jim Carey's movies are always the sappy, simple types. when he tries to do a serious movie.. what happens? it's sh*t.

so basically, that's the subliminal message.

also, the movie was pretty good. it had some parts that'll have you aching, belly laughing, etc. but... it's pretty sappy. so if you like really funny sh*t, right, and you also like sappy sap sap, then you'll like it. also, whatsherface isn't that great. her part's pretty shallow.

edit: you DO get to see Jennifer Aniston ( i remembered her name) with *SLIGHTLY* enlarged gazooms.. but that's pretty much the highest point of the flick.

You're kidding me right? Two words: Truman show.
Though it was funny that doesn't make it any less serious. With all these docu soaps polluting the air (survivor, big bother, popstars...) the next frontier will be The Truman show.

    BTW, God is Alanis Morisette

I think people disliked The Truman Show because they couldn't accept Carrey in a serious role. I thought the film was excellent.

And DOOM, yeah, seeing the Matrix for the Nth time definately beats anything else. I'm not even interested in any other movie. I saw the commercial for the Italian Job (which I would normally find supremo-bad-****) and I barely even noticed it.
