2 gig P4
512 megs of ram

Iv got a similar system, I'v finished upgrading my sound (4.1 Suround sound and soundblaster live 5.1) so its onto the 3D card next (same card). I'm gonna upgrade in Septeember, try waiting the price will change or just get a GForce, the price should go down with the realese of the new FX cards.

Yeah, I'd get a new video card if i was you. Not like right this minute though. Don't worry, it'll probably drop to $250 or so by the time HL2 is shipped.

Also, I'm not too worried about any type of "ATI Optimization" that HL2 has... Its not like its gonna run like crap on NVidia cards, who have the vast majority of the market. Valve isn't going to intentionally make the game run slower for the majority of their customers. There just may be a few things the cards do internally that help the ATI card do better. There's a similar story w/ NVidia for DOOM III...

Oh yeah, I want to get the ATI All-In-Wonder 9800 Pro. It's my new campaign.

don't buy a vid card just cause a game is optimized for it, because it doesn't mean jack **** if it is optimized, it's just a marketing gimmick

I'm probably gonna get the ATI 9700, comparing spec's I don't really think the extra bit the 9800 offers is worth $100.

I'd try and save for HL2 and a ATI Radeon 9800, but to bad Dell's a bunch of **** and they gave me a Mother Board rigged with only PCI slots.
