<div class="IPBDescription">Gorge rush</div> In my experience there have been very few gorge rushes in my time but they seem to be somewhat successful. I think that the only reason they arnt implemented more is because of the high risk involved. What do you think for i have always wondered why this isnt a viable means of winning and why it isnt a common strat. Let me know what you think.

    If marines have no defences at their base :

    Let a few skulks rush ahead, plop down 3-4 o's, and build at least one up. GG.

    In my experience (and this is true for every one I believe) the primary reason for the success of gorge rushses is the suprise involved with it. Rarely do marines expect 6+ gorges running into their base. I have been on the recieving end once, and me and another guy ran back to base and managed to kill two, but we ran out of ammo and attacked the hive with knives before dieing <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The problem I see is it wastes resources and leaves the hive very vulnrable. Had me and the other guy not wasted our ammo we could have killed the hive.

    Thats about the only thing aliens have to match a heavy armor train. both heal and dmg at same time but gorg is alot weaker than a h-armor guy. maby if they all have redeption just incase lol. and adrenerling if possible <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--><!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Organization and people taking you seriously. Those are the real road blocks.

    The gorge rush is very potent, especially if you pull it a little while in. Start with one gorge, get up a res tower, then enough for 2 mcs, everyone gorge, then adrenal, and smack the marines nice and hard. Works well enough if your team is organized, intelligent, and knows where to fire the heal sprays. If one goes gorge a little earlier, you can drop two OCs, and all this while the marines are shooting you with pistols and lmgs (and probably have mines in their base too for you to blow!).

    That said, it's not really viable at all for 99.9999999% of pub games. When I've seen it done, however, oh boy is it fun. And yes, it can be countered by smart marines who know how to focus fire and/or have shotguns and know how to use them.

    well if you are going to gorge rush you need carapace. NOT redemp, NOT regen and NOT adren. Why? redemption will bring you out of the fight before you can do anything useful. regen is too slow and you will get pistol whipped before 1 heal takes place. adren is great but if you have no cara again you will get pistol whipped before 1 heal takes affect. It takes ALOT of bullets to kill a level 3 cara gorge. I can kill a marine 1 on 1 if i have cara by spitting him. Sooooo if it takes a marine that long to kill 1 gorge he will have time to get healed by the other gorges. By the time you all run out of energy the marines will have unloaded 2 clips and you will be dropping offense chambers. So now they have to deal with full health gorges AND OC's. It helps to have a skulk come in halfway through the rush.

    Something that aliens do in alot of clan matches is a 2 gorge/4 lerk rush. Its so awesome to watch. The way it works is they all move in a group to right outside the marine base. Any marine that walks infront of them gets gooified by 4 lerks spiking. Once they are outside marine base the 2 gorges set up DC's. Anytime the lerks take damge they are healed by 2 gorges and 2 DC's. Also the gorges can heal each other. Now that the DC's are up and the lerks are close to the entrance they can start using their bite which is devastating. once half the marine team is dead they all move in as a group. the gorges drop OC's and the lerks bite any remaining marines then go for the IP's. This strat is very hard to counter but takes extreme teamwork, timing and coordination. To counter it you gotta kill those gorges. You really need 2 IP's which isnt that common in clan matches. A distress beacon can help but observatories are rare in clan matches also. HA/HMG/GL wil stomp it but nobody does HA strats except SiD.... well atleast that i've seen.

    I think the proper term is "Gorge Konga Line" <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Anyway Gorge rushes do work if you have 2 or 3 skulks to rn in and clean up any marines.

    The biggest weakness of a gorge rush is that, at least without 3 hives, the gorges have no fast way to destroy buildings. I think it is a lot better to do a mixed rush with say, 2 or 3 gorges, and the rest something good at destroying buildings.

    Let me give you all a big slap onthe head for not noticing the obvious.

    Back when I had the time to clan, I was the commander for cX. We did very good, but sYn had a very sucessful gorge rush stratagy that took me awhile to figure out. It beat us for awhile, until we learned to see it coming and responded to it (i.e., nix motion tracking and powertech to HMG/GL).

    Here is how it works.

    At the beginning of the game, the entire alien team hangs JUST OUTSIDE marines start, they cause havok and try to disorganize any relocations. Meanwhile, 2 gorges cap every RT they can on their way to a second hive. As soon as the second hive starts building, EVERY ALIEN pulls back and evolves to gorge except one. NEVER MORE THAN ONE. In the current resource model, how much of the total RP pool do gorges take? One third right? So the one non-gorge is getting 2/3 of all the total resources. Needless to say he has no problem evolving fade the moment hive 2 is operational.

    As soon as the fade is done evolving (between 5 gorges, 3 movement chambers and adren always gets erected) they make a bee-line to the marine base. Fade goes in first, and the 5 gorges do a combination of webbing and healspraying. The more turrets the more healspraying, the more marines the more webbing. Web the IP a hajillion times and the game is yours in record speed. OC's could be used, but they are too slow and inneficiant when compared to a Fade in god mode vs weaponless marines.

    That sounds like a 1.03 strat, Freemantle. Winning if the marines let you have two hives isn't the trick - taking them down before they get hmg/jp is. At least in 1.04; may god bring us 1.1 soon, amen.

    Anyways yeah, Lucid laid out the lerk/gorge rush. It's sexy.

    And yeah, you almost never see them in pubs because A) no one knows how it works and B) that level of organization isn't gonna happen.
