Regarding the random event entity

Alright, I remember looking for this in the mapping guidelines a while ago, and they didn't provide me with exactly the answer I needed.
Basically, I am trying to create an effect in my map where a PA system plays one of 5 different announcements randomly, each at a specified time interval. I want to have it run this sequence continually for as long as the map is in play. I am also wondering if the random event entity can trigger .mp3 sound files or only .wav files.
Is this possible, and if so, how might I accomplish it?
I will post some of the sounds I am planning to use just so you guys have an idea of the length/size/usage of these sounds.
