<!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo--> Ever hid in a rt while building it or just for the sake to hide from on coming marines? I hope in 1.1 this ability will still be available because I find it a funny way for a gorg to hid himself during the game. The only thing that might give him away is if he starts building, healing, or shooting stuff.....but anyways that is too funny to see a healing or attacking rt.

This tactic might proove useful too because normally marines avoid attacking rt's to not give away their current position. But if they do find you you better run or call for help.... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::gorge::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/pudgy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='pudgy.gif'><!--endemo-->

hiding in RT's is great, for gorge AND for rines

As a rine it's awesome tbh, see those fades walk past you while you are undercover in the hive <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Problem is that you can only hide, not hurt the RT, and if you try to run you usually get killed =/

    I do anyway

... and since rts will become prime targets in 1.1 it is questionable how long this will work. But yes, I love it. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Plus, many of the hitboxes are being improved. Greatly.

So far though, I always use this strategy as Gorge, they will still hear you when they get up close but it is good way to buy time, so you can call some nearby skulks to protect you, and if all else fails, spit then heal spray all the way!

You can no longer hide in a RT in 1.1. I miss it too :(

MarineA on chat: damn, lost my sounds.
MarineA on team say: comm, make a pg to [somewhere], im in position
A gorge is hiding on a rt behind the marine, drops a couple of oc's and builds them so they get ready at the same moment
    <span style='color:orange'>DaGorge ¤¤o MarineA</span>
MarineA on chat: WTH was that?

    **** !!
It was so cool to hide in there as gorge or marine.
I was hoping that in 1.1 that would be a bit easier to marines, because if you now jump inside the RT and crouch, the screen starts to shake.

I personally didn't want to try this, as i found it one of those not really useful tactics also one of those tactics which will be erased within 1.1

Really? I need to play where you do. Wherever I play marines tend to disobey move to waypoint orders simply to take out any alien rt they encounter - who cares aout getting found out.

Thats kinda sad.. wonder why not to?. it didnt make games any longer, or such, eventually they will find you. Anyway, back to the question.

I was guarding the RT as a skulk (hiding inside). 2 marines started to knife it,
i had a nice meal <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->. Second time, i was playing on the opposite side as an marine, jumped inside the rt and started knifing.. 2 skulks were like "??? where is he? " , finally they figured it out, i knifed one of them :]

As a gorge RT is wonderfull place to hide yourself, your too small to be seen if your at the right spot. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I think its good that they are making it impossible to hide in rt. It is a bit unrealistic to be able to hide in a solid structure. Even though it is good fun. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Once on ns_eclipse I was a marine walking towards the bottom entrance of computer core. I heard a gorg building some thing there, so I decided to kill it. But when I came in to cc the only thing I saw was a rt. after checking the corners, I came to the conclusion that the gorg must have heard me coming and left before I came in. I was just about to knife the rt when a dc popped up. It took a sec before I realized that the gorg was in the rt. I started to shoot at the hiding spot in the rt. and the gorg jump out and started to run. After a short hunt I killed it. At this point the dc was built and shooting at me. I just barely got out of there alive.

It surprises me that not more people use the rt to hide in. it would be an effective defensive tack.

Bah hiding is only effective against the random n00b. If you hear a gorge building and you see an clear RT, you have to come to the obvious conclusion. In fact now I throw my crosshairs over every alien RT I come across to make sure a skulk or a gorge isn't hiding inside. Maybe if their name didn't pop up the second you aim at an enemy it would become more effective.

I think the reason this is not used more is that it is not as known as one might think. I knifed an RT to death today, altough the aliens had the upper hand and I was alone deep in their territory - sitting within the RT, knifing downwards and stopping every time a skulk came by to look what the "resource tower is under attack" message meant. Not one of them looked into the RT.

But it is good this is being fixed.

Now, if ONOS could hide inside RTs...
  • owdawgowdawg Join Date: 2003-02-08 Member: 13296Members
I find it quite humerous, I can pick out gorges hiding in rt's real quick, so I casually walk by it and at the last minute turn around and unload on him. If teh gorge was smart he would go behind teh rt and use at as a sheild keeping it between him and the marine. I killed many marines heal spraying through the resource tower.

Except if there's more than one, in which case hiding is your only prayer.
