its actually labda. its the half-life symbol, which is also the same as the lenght of one wave. And it has something to do with other physics, which i luckily dont have anymore

Anyway, we still have closed testing mainly because it's much, much easier to organize. It's tougher to know what to change when you have 500 people all giving their opinions, as opposed to all 50. However, keep in mind that more and more people are being recruited for beta testing each week, and it shouldn't be TOO much longer before the first version is released...so hold your horses, your long wait will be rewarded.
smoke, u like that movie? seemed a bit, NOT A BIT SHY FROM COMPLETE CRAP to me
Lamda, the 12th letter in the greek alphabet, is used to represent the length of one oscillation with regards to sound, light, or other wave-based pnenomena. It is a part of the universal wave equation where v = f(lamda). The Velocity of the wave is directly proportional to the frequency of the emitted wave and the wavelength.
Thus concludes the physics lesson for today. (Sorry, I have an exam in 2 days, and this is a good way to see how much I really know.)
You'll do fine. See, it's all headology. If you believe you don't know anything, then you won't do very well. But if you believe you are prepared, yer fine.
Lambda was chosen by Valve because of it's meaning in the chaos theory. There, it represents a constant value that keeps popping up in every second formula.
Hence the scientists line: "Do you still believe chaos theory has no basis whatsoever?"

(open beta is on its way)

they're all the same........
Hurry with the alpha? I want the beta.... I think the two sacred words should be, "Mod Released"
thought its just some crazy word valve thought of.
