Half-life 2 Mod Idea.

I saw a post on this before, but I don't know if it got deserved recognition, so... Ok, since Half-Life2's awesome and all and so is Half-Life, why not get a team to convert Half-Life Single Player to the Half-Life 2 Engine? I mean, I'd REALLY like to see Half-Life with newly impressive graphics and physics. Just a thought, I hope someone does it! Would anyone else like to see this done? What part would you like to see the most re-done? I'd like to see the Black Mesa Research Facility over hauled with wires and pipes and cool stuff! ^_^

    You'll probably see a number of attempts at this, to be honest. I dunno, if I see one with potential I may offer a hand. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> It'd be really cool, but it'd be something really easy to screw up as well.

    One thing I have thought about for Nightwatch is (depending on what porting options are available) making our HL source file available to a trusted group of people to convert into HL2 prior to NW2. We won't even think about porting NW itself at any stage - after all, it's designed for HL, not the scope of HL2. However, with preliminary sequel plans in the works already it's not unreasonable to make the original available for more people prior to the release of the second one. *shrug*

    There's a lot of cool options that may become available once HL2 is out, but the problem is making sure the people undertaking them will be able to do it right. That's really the problem when anyone takes a crack at re-making something that's not originally theirs, regardless of competence in the first place.

    Half-Life was made for the engine it was made for, I think if Valve made HL1 for HL2, you would experience something entirely different. The HL2 engine is just so far ahead of the HL1 engine they could do all the cool stuff they wanted to but couldnt, make the areas bigger, more dynamic, more open. So, yeah it would be cool if somone ported HL1, but it would be even cooler if we were able to see what Valve wanted the HL1 experience to REALLY be like.

    Im already wondering how TF2 will look with the new engine, I think HL2 will be the first widely modded game with pixel shaders and all that crap (I think UT 2k3 had pixel shaders right? But it wasnt a big hit).

    OHL (original Half-life) would be good on HL2 but for if only for the <b><i>Nostalgia</i></b> of hauling **** through the BMRF again.     I think more interesting than anything architectural or with models or particle systems would instead be using the new AI on the hl grunts. that'd be pretty cool in itself. :) Plus the new moves such as the gravity gun and etc.

    have you seen what some of the mods out there are based on? of COURSE it will be done. Ive seen mods re-doing counter strike, then others re-doing the more successful of those. all it needs is one dedicated person and a few of his mates dragged into it. I could do the Promotions:

    Setting: Street (outside)

    "OI! YOU! YEAH, YOU WITH THE FACE, DOWNLOAD THIS MOD NOW!!!!!!!!! take your hands OFF me officer. RAPE!"

    Man, i would so totaly get hired to be an actor
