I love how people automatically assume that one side or another will stink, without having even played it.  People say "why would anyone want to be an alien?", "Why on earth would anyone want to be a builder?" "Why would anyone want to be a marine?" "Who wants to command?  I want to be in on the action!".

The point is, you don't have to like all roles, you just have to like one role.  In our playtests, I can't think of anyone who never plays another side (though there are some people who clearly aren't comfortable commanding).

Wait until you play it before you pronounce one side as boring!

i think that at the firsts weeks within release there will be lots of n00bs who will play cs-like and then quit, and a huge mayority will stay and love the teamplay and the mod, cause having so many different roles will make more people try it. <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Funny, there was recently a post on the Gloom (I apologize in advance for the Gloom reference) forum stating that most new players go Human (marine) because the gameplay is so familiar to them.  They can bring their skills over from all of the other MODs to give them an edge.  While playing as Aliens requires an entirely new skill set (melee instead of shoot and spam; stealth instead of firepower; etc).

My thoughts are that some people really enjoy playing marine types (some fps players just love guns), and others prefer playing the more exotic roles (in this case: aliens).  If previous MODs are any indication, I'm guessing the two sides will be pretty balanced.  In Gloom at least, there seems to be plenty of dedicated people on both sides.

But generally, people change sides to keep things interesting.

Couldn't have said it better myself. And with that...
