Alright - i was playing Heavy Medal music "Du Hast" a Starcraft song thing. Find it on KaZaA. (Not - it is not Warez - it was developed and given out freely on the 'net)

I had it on max. EVERYTHING. Volume, Bass.... ANYTHIGN that had a switch or toggle was AMXED. Then - in the middle of the song I head *Pop* and nothing. NOTHING.

I just fried my sound card and blew my speakers! HELP ME!! WHAT DO I DO NOW?!?!

Pry your soundcard from its melted roost on your motherboard and buy a new one + speakers?

oh, I once blew up my subwoofer of my creative labs/cambridge surround system that I got in the US when I tried to get it to work here in Switzerland with some half-assed electricity converter. all I heard was *pop* and then saw some fumes...

Somehow I get the impression that the "pop" came from something in the speaker hardware itself rather than the sound file...

As for getting new speakers, I recommend keeping an eye out in the Sunday newspaper for advertisements for stores like Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City, etc. Every so often they'll have a good deal after rebates -- I got my latest set of speakers (Creative Inspire 5.1) with at least $20 in rebates, if I recall correctly.

Er, Du Hast is a industrial / metal song by the German band Rammstein, it's not a StarCraft thing, and if you downloaded it, it's not legal either.

There are a number of unofficial music videos for games. I remember a site existing called "GamingMV" that had a StarCraft music video for a Limp Bizkit song, for instance.

[edit]Nem's probably correct with his post below, though. It's a bit of a grey area, legally speaking.[/edit]

ahh yeah, like the amount of Anime PV's you find for random songs.

But still, it's illegal ^_^. Heh.

So that leads me to come to the conclusion that by downloading music illegally it not only rapes the families and children of record company executives, but it also breaks your sound hardware.

Your card probably experienced a meltdown due to extreme temperatures. You now have to call in a decontamination group and seal your computer in concrete.

    Good luck!

PS: Well, not much i can say to a question like: "AAAGH, my card fried, what do i do?"

Actually, there is a medium sized debate about this falling under the 'fair use' term, so let's call it 'grey zone'.

I find it amusing how quickly topics can change!

But I got some good news - and it is in the form of a sledge hammer. I'm not sure what that pop was, but I found out that in my Heavy-Metal "Frolicling" my leg ripped out the cord of my speakers - and now the plug was bent out of shape. The solution? Beat it back INTO shape with a sledge hammer. (Well - just a Normal hammer) And hey - they work - EVEN BETTER now!

..And who says hitting things never works out...? Pffff

Unwritten rule - Hitting things with a hammer 9 times out of 10 fixes it.

    let's put it this way.

They are arguing whether having illegal music is the reason a surnatural force punished them by frying his card.

I had an old computer that got fried by lightning one time, the same lightning also turned on the TV...

I opened up the case and I could smell the burnt plastic, yummy.

At least I got to hit it with a sledgehammer afterwards.
