was it from the leaked beta of doom where it is not optimsed and only a few can support it?
so in short more info pls
www.hardocp.com click on the doom 3 link ----- but in short, ID gave rights for testing of a certain working copy of doom 3 for testing purposes... not the alpha.

so what if ATI packs more megahertz onto their card? that makes them spiffier in many benchmark softwares, but heck, if this card performs as that graph says, who cares about specifications?
Okay. Have you SEEN the 5900 fan? It's like a standard fan sitting on a huge heatsink, instead of a huge fan stitting on a standard heatsink. I don't expect it to be anywhere as loud, and the first benchmarks are very promising.
I am certainly willing to shell out $500 for a video card made for games that won't be released until summer of next year. Games like Doom 3, which although only support 4 people in multiplayer, will have awsome immersive mindless blowing away of zombies. These are not the same zombies we are used to seeing in most every other sci-fi games though, no, these are bump mapped pixel shaded zombies!
And despite the fact that by the time games as advanced as Doom 3 start hitting the shelves, there will be cards that can perform twice as fast, I will still buy one. Because it can run a game that isnt even out yet!
Lets pop back into reality now: Doom 3 is, and will always be, a $50 tech demo. The only games I plan to buy in the next YEAR that look decent will run at a considerable tick on my, and most other people's systems (HL2, Deus Ex 2, Vice City).
uh... doom 3 i heard is comming out this fall sometime... vice city is out, and half life 2 sept. 30th....
on another note. - geforce fx 5900 will not be a loud card like the previous one - keep your nice little ps'ed pics off the thread thanks...
the graph is not fake ... driver issue ? most likely but its fun taking a stab at ati .. ati fans do this all the time --- but all in all 5900 is a nice quality card, i just hope the price comes down----
um.. right? Can't you be happy with what you have? And why would that "performance" be so impressive? That's like saying "PCs are better than macs, look at how many games are released per year." End of story.. Eh? Thanks, but I'll stick with my technology sites for spec data, and actual performance data for video cards (Which I also, mind you, have never had to buy myself, as the one included on my computers always ran fine enough).
Anyways, on topic, only 90 fps? 30'd be just as good. Once they can get 900, then come jumping with glee. [sidenote]it looks like Doom3 has an optimization for that graphics card. The performance as very stable on the ATI, which leads me to believe that it was running on some form of rendering standard for the ATI card, but the performance boost and drop for the Geforce suggests more optimizations which make it run at near 100% capacity (thus the incredible FPS droppage per resolution change).
Takes up two pci slots aswell. Good to see the Dyson attachment is gone.

I bought my GeForce4 Ti4400 last year around March. Next card I get will probably be around Jan-March of next year. Getting two years out of a card isn't bad at all. The next games I want to play good are Half-Life 2, Deus Ex 2, Aquanox 2, Elite Force 2, Tribes 3, and maybe Halo PC and some other sequels and threequels.
From the perspective in that picture, it looks like the card now takes up the AGP slot and two PCI slots

I'm very disapointed with nvidia cards, especially since they "cheated" on the benchmarks . It's great that some people can look at an article and post pics without reading it at all

The Radeon 9800 had to be used on older drivers afterwards that only took advantage of 128mbs of the memory and I wouldnt be suprised if it wasn't taking advantage of other features.
In real performance the 9800 and FX 5900Ultra are very close, with the 5900 generally beating the 9800 in DX9 level graphics. While the 9800 winning most tests that don't utalize pixel or vertex shaders.
