[mreq] Transparent Skulk Jaws

<div class="IPBDescription">rawr</div> Now with the <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=19&t=31664' target='_blank'>transparency dlls</a> out I was thinking about ways of implementing it into NS.

Could anyone create some transparent skulk jaws? If you could create 3 seperate versions at 25%, 50% and 75% levels of transparency that'd probably suit everyones needs.

If you need hosting just PM me and I'll arrange something (Hell they may be small enough to attach to a post)

    this would be perfect for making those weird glass - like teeth on avp alien models, but it <b>is</b> an exploit no doubt.

    adding things TO the teeth would be cool, but changing them would not..


    think about this, how would you do the skulk if you weren't in their mouth?

    someone gave me a long winded explaination about how the skulk "smells/senses" changes in the local bacteria network, and these changes are picked up by receptors in the mouth. I asked him how it could "smell" in full colour. He said he didnt know. I said "why has it got eyes on the OUTSIDE then?". He shut up.

    I think adding little bits of marine armour to the teeth or perhaps shading them red or something would look pretty good

    Thats why I use the aliens models. They see through their mouths.

    Well.. I had to try it.

    First of all, I'm certainly not going to release it. I believe it's an exploit, and I'm not going to use it. I simply wanted to test it.

    Here is a pic of it in action.

    You can wip these in 30 seconds. Really.

    But that removes hive sight from your screen. With transparent models, you won't need to lose hive sight and stuff.

    or you could give it the blue 255 0 0 texture an make the teeth totaly invicible whitout server consistancy problems... or at least i think you wont be botherd by model consistancy...

    anyway its lame an I was very happy to read that you werent going to release it

    The skulk theeth should be transparent by default. Using it now looks nice but haxy.
    Looks like flashlight on, looks good is nicer to play, and makes more sense than seeing your mouth solid from inside.
    in 1.1 the skulks vielt of view will be larger (like avp1) so much will change.

    If someone is wondering about the color of the image (it's pretty darn red), that's because ns_missilecommand has that red hive space for aliens.

    So I shall just post another image. I could imagine using that skin in a lan party, and have everyone screaming that you are h4x0ring.

    It doesn't look good in the screenshots, but looks neat ingame.

    Why would you want to make player models transparent?

    And there would be no use using cheats in ns (making walls transparent), because ns has a built-in wallhack called hivesight.
