Naide Hive

<div class="IPBDescription">Need serious feedback ^_^</div> I've been working on the first hive on my map ns_Naide for a while. It's almost finished, but it feels like there's something missing. Here's a couple of pictures:

As you see on the pictures the lighting looks different, depending on if the Hive is built of not... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Tell me what you think, and give me advice of what I should change.

    Well, it's very semetrical(sp?)...perhaps you could add some infestation piles?

    Did you gamma correct these shots? The lighting doesn't seem to have enough contrast for a hive room. It shouldn't be difficult to get some good stong contrast going with all those supports and raised floors to hide indirect lighting behind.

    The infestation seems very light, no shoulder high piles of goop and broken stuff like in the official maps. If you need infested versions of some of those textures I can knock them up for you.

    Nice to see someone finally using those hive build/kill triggers <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Well i would make it a bit more open on the sides and add some more infestation textures on the grey wall textures. It doesnt look right without the infestation. Otherwise it looks good <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> but you should think bout raising the ceiling a tad to make it a bit more JP friendly but dont remove the pipes (you dont wanna make it that friendly) good job! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    It seems kind of out of place to me that the hive attaches to the pipes.... and they're one of the cleanest things in the room. I'm guessing that the lighting on the pipes is only on when a hive is not present, which is a cool effect. The room's symmetry isn't that big of a deal as long as it makes sense, which it seems to in this case. Mostly it just doesn't seem infested enough, other than that it does look really good.

    Instead of raising the ceiling (and kind of changing the feel of the room) you could make some ledges on the columns you have running up the walls. That would probably be enough to make the room jp friendly without giving the hive away.

    Hi.

    I like the architecture, good work on that big pipe.

    Only two small things i can see;

    - Maybe use a infested texture on the pipe near the hive (the hive is just there and there is no infestation on the pipe, weird in my opinion)

    - On naide_hive4.jpg, near the phase gate, there is a great contrast between the fully infested texture (ALIENWL3) and the texture u are using for the support (i believe its TRIM_BUMP)

    Other than that it looks really nice to me.

    the pipe is too repeditive. Break it, perhaps in multiple places. In addition, you might want to cover the floor with water, and make the pipe leak. Or not cover the floor with water, and make the pipe leak. Or cover the floor with water and not make the pipe leak. Or perhaps have somthing else leaking out of the pipe, or infestation hanging from it.

    Looks very good. That big pipe could use some little baby pipes coming out of it. Also a few infestation blobs couldnt hurt.

    Some more infestation would be great, other than that it looks fairly solid

    Nice room, a little bit more space wouldnt be bad...

    yeah, I see a few things. Like people said, you really need infestation. Most apparently on the horizontally striped textures. You have infestation all around it, but those are clean as a whistle. A big, shiny, clean whistle, not the dirty plastic kind.......Anyways, there's something about the striped texture in general that bothers me, but infesting it may fix that. Also, I see the floor where the phase is built.....again, zero infestation. fix these things, maybe add *puddles* of water, not the entire floor covered in it, contrast the lighting, and I think you'll be set.
