Check your monitor refresh rate and/or your fps.

From what I've read from a previous post in relation to those, Fps/refresh rate can strain your eyes.

Perhaps, you're just confusing that and the endgame, when you seem to realise things like your eyes hurting.

When your location as a marine is no secret its an evil stratrgy to turn on your flashlight.
You see a little bigt more and everybpdy else gets confused by the flickering, especially skulks.

    100 fps 85 refresh rate?

How can you people play without vsync? Doesn't the frame tearing annoy you? I personally can't stand frame tearing in my games.

I have my refresh rate for 800x600 at 120. But welders still cause major strain on my eyes.

In fact I'm suffering a migrane from it right now.

Try a gamma setting lower than 5.0.

Yeah, I have my gamma at 5.0.... It's just sooo much easier.

Hah. You cheap.......Anyways. Yah, keep it at a lower level.

So it doesn't feel like you're staring into the sun.

theres a line between easier and advantageous like rdrawviewmodel. no one knos where to draw the line and who is allowed to tell everyone else what to do.

Usually exploiting means having a rather definitive advantage over those who are running default.

Usually high gamma can be considered so, but I guess it's a mixed blessing if I'm playing against someone who feels like their head is going to explode because they have such high gamma.

The welder is way too bright IMO too. Especially if you're playing in a dark room. I usually close my eyes before welding something

Not really, i think that the welder helps you see in the dark, and lets aliens see rines in the dark

Heh... if someone's got their gamma up high enough that there aren't any shadows and this makes the welder burn out their eyeballs, I'm not gonna complain about it...

NS is nice and creepy for me... and i can use a welder for hours.

The welder literally blinds me in NS so what I've done is use 'tab' when I weld. The semi-transparent score/team sheet dims the brightness of the welder without completely blinding you to the game (skulk food anyone?). To those who comment on the cheapness of max gamma, I've found however, that without max gamma, my monitor will simply display almost all envirnments in pitch black (such as Atmospheric Processing). I literally couldn't see enough to move around - and my monitor had max contrast and brightness. Its all a matter of what your hardware is really and I for one don't think gamma should be critized for what its meant to do: ajust the brightness so the game is actually visible for all users. Anyway, just my 2c.

I have no problems with welders - well...aside from my framerate dropping drastically - but I have my gamma set at 2.6 so what would I know.
