<div class="IPBDescription">.loc files?</div> well, im still an ns noob but i like using scripts. Like, i have a bind that makes me say "[ medpack plz ]" and make the sound, i have that for ammo, enemy here, orders plz, things like that. What i miss is something like "i'm at [location]". This should be possible with a bind "say i'm at %L" combined with a .loc file (more info see <a href='http://ahlmd.telefragged.com/tutorials.php?tid=1' target='_blank'>http://ahlmd.telefragged.com/tutorials.php?tid=1</a>
has anyone ever made these for NS? i'd really love that. I'm a noob, still getting used to my binds and if i have to type "medpack at base plz" all the time or "enemy in the vents" or so im really gonna get annoyed. so... anyone?
if nobody's done this yet i might do it... but the problem is that i don't know how NS players call most places. I've heard stuff like "gen" and "vsys" and such, no idea what they stand for.

Here too: <a href='http://www.tribes2maps.com/ns/' target='_blank'>Less "cluttered" looking maps.</a>
the second link provides ideal maps for this... im goin to start right after i'm done with studying my history test <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
And good luck on your history test! <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
anyway, time to study. I'll something online if i have it. Only problem i think is..
it says sv_cheats has to be on to create the files, i hope it doesnt have to be on to use the %L thing. Else there migth be problems since a LOT of NS servers use Cheating Death.
Gives you a good idea of what a map looks like, plus its place names.
and if you like scripts try my "yellocation" script for quick alerts, and not just to say your location.
Sorry if I sound flippant but I think Voice Comm serves that purpose.
speaking about voogru.com.. i tried getting on there but i get a message about "shell.mdl" (doesnt appear long enough to be able to read it) and then "could not complete connection attempt". which isnt fun. also get it on a few otehr servers. anyways, thats anotehr story.
if location dont work, is there any way to get the location on the map you are at? like, the loc files ive seen contain locations described with 3 numbers. anyway to get those three numbers?
for example (from an AHL loc file):
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->-533 483 -1531 "lower level, water"<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
it would be great if NS had it in some future version, preferably 1.1
to those who say voicecomm, i guess youre a single child, some of us cant be shouting at our PCs all day. what i mean is, i wouldnt be caught dead talking at my monitor when anyone is around!
But there are plugins to metamod for this, wich for example voogru use on his servers.
echo text to the screen of team members only. A percent sign followed by A, H, or I in the text will be replaced by your player's current Armor, Health, and ID'd player, respectively. For example: say "I have %A armor, %H health, and am staring at player %I" will look like "I have 45 armor, 97 health, and am staring at player CoolGuy".
<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
This is from a list of commands for HL ( <a href='http://half-life.gamehelp.com/console/all.html' target='_blank'>http://half-life.gamehelp.com/console/all.html</a> ) and it does insinuate that this works for all of HL...
and SI does, but you need a client hook. but people don't seem to mind it that much.
anyway, it doesn't seem to work in NS currently. lol, and your testing confirmed it. I guess it was supposed to become a feature in all of HL but never did?
he did write a server-side plugin for this to work, dont know if its still running. This is something i've been lookin for, for a while, as voice comm tends to get too cluddered sometimes, and ya never know what kinds of problems peopel are hfaving with their sound.
for now i'd like to know how to retrieve those coords. maybe in some way with some ingenious CFG's and lots of scripting i might still be able to make somethin like this... i have some PHP , JS and basic experience.
by the way, does anyone know if there is some sort of a conditional clause in Half life scripting? like IF or so, or CASE maybe? haven't found one as of yet.
%l (location),
%a (armor),
%h (health),
%r (resources).
Fully automatic on the server-side, no .loc files needed since it ties itself to the NS location system.
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->well just been to Voogru.com NS server, %H and %L don't work <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--><!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
its case sensitive. %l not %L
every server should install this right away :o unless 1.1 will have it built in of course, then its bit of a lost effort.
